Firstly,
I've been browsing these forusm and jsut registered today, everyone seems genuine and the boards feel friendlier than other forums.

My name's Craig and i have a 3L manual TF.

The other day I had a high performance clutch fitted as my old one was stuffed and I plan on doing mods down the line so thought i'd get a decent clutch.

I launched especially ahrd the other day after running the clutch in and gave enough revs to avoid axle tramp but smoked the tyres a bit too much, instead of backing off i chanegd up to secodn and kept the throttle pinned. then when changed to 3rd and crusiing I started getting a clunk from the front right wheel. I stopped and tried taking off again and I get a whirring sound following by a loud CLUNK from the front right tyre and the steering wheel jerks. Needless to say I got it towed and haven't driven it since.

Does this sound liek a possible diff/driveshaft issue? Clutch and gearbox appear to be fine. Or could it be something else?

Sorry for the long post, any help or rough idea on how much to fix would be great!

Thanks
Craigus

just get ya head under there and have a look see if u snapped ya drive shaft or steering shaft,
if not get a mechanic round to have a quick look, drive shafts arent too exensive to replace, $160 for a new one, get it cheaper if u do a trade in of ya old one

I had a bit of a look under and the driveshaft 'looks' alrite and no problem with steering.

i jacked the front of the car up and put it in gear. the left wheel spins properly but the right wheel only spins at the same time as the clunk, although it is not as loud when there is no load on the wheel. I have a single spinner so I can stop the right wheel from moving but then I'll get the clunk and wheel gets ripped right out of my hands.

could be inside the gearbox where the drive shaft connects

How much was it to fix?? Is this not supplied with a clutch kit?? or am i thinking of something else?

If you broke a driveshaft, the engine would not move the car anymore.
Probably damaged a CV joint or the splines in either the hub or differential.
This is a good reminder that front drive transmissions are very constrained by package size, and tend to be weaker than a conventional rear drive setup.

Could be a worn out ball joint.

About $700+ Get the whole bearing set done and syncros while it's out!
