View Full Version : V6 5 Speed TS Rare ????
Is it true that this model is rare???
Cause a few place i have gone to to get work doen are like um..... i cant find the parts for that. Took them about 3 tries to get a starter motor that was right and it was from a triton or something.

Parts shouldnt be an issue, like the starter motor is the same as in an auto. Maybe the people your asking for parts from don't know what they're doing (just a thought)
I don't think that the manual TS is really rare, might be hard to find but not uber-rare. Varadas in manual however... My local mechanic was able to get a new clutch for the TS custom made and sent down from brisbane pretty much overnight, same with machining the flywheel. Pretty good considering I live 45min south of the QLD/NSW border.

It's hard to find, but not rare.
And parts is a piece of piss. The people you dealt with have no idea.
yeh well thats another story gettting a clutch put in......
the idiots had the car for a week the first time (it had its 200000 km service) as well as a new clutch which was the main reason.
I get the bill and its all on there. next day on the way to work it starts slipping again, so i go back pissed of, they finally realise that no one actually did the clutch.
2nd time around the clutch was done it was ok for about a week then started slipping again and would fully let off so it was crunching gears, so mad to say the least.
another 2 weeks later it was outta the workshop.

TS Manuals are the most common TS in wagons here in WA.
There was so much BS about the autos over here every one bought manuals.
Trying finding an executive TS Wagon in auto is the hard apart lol
Parts wise I too have had trouble getting parts for my TR. Very few wreckers deal with Magnas over here compared to other aussie built cars. Hell it's easier to get a Repo R33 Skyline engine mount over here than a Repo Magna one !

It wouldn't say ts v6 manuals are rare, not like say JD Starions (less than 200 sold in Australia). But they would probably be the rarerest of the 2nd gen magnas.
When my gf's dad went to get some small parts from a mitsu dealership when he was fixing my car they asked for the details of the car. When he said ts v6 manual they were like "v6 with a manual?? are you sure??" They said they had never actually seen a manual v6 second gen, and this was in a mitsu dealership.
Getting mine was a bit of a fluke too. I just walked in to the damaged auctions with my only real prerequisit being that i wanted a manual. I thought i was gona walk out with a excel, festiva or laser. The magna that i ended up geting wasn't even on my list of posibilities until we had a closer look at it and realised the damage wasn't that bad and it was a v6 that had only just clicked over 100,000ks
Glad i walked out with a car that looks okay and has some balls.

Actually a TR V6 manual would be the hardest 2nd gen to find. As they were only produced for one year. The V6's didnt come in the TR's until about mid 93, and in mid 94 they made the TS.
There's more TS V6 manuals than TR's defintely.

Well I have a V6 Manual TR Magna which I bought off my folks a few mths ago (they owned it from brand new) and I have a V6 TS Magna Auto (which I bought brand new)! Both are serviced by Mitsubishi, I never get any comments on how rare the manual car is, or that they have never seen a manual one before
I personally like the auto, but both cars have been excellent since new.. The TR has over 200,000ks and the TS has 95,000ks, ive never had any probs with either of them and both are still on there original motor's, gearboxes, etc etc! Prolly coz im too frickin fussy with the pair of em lol! Cheers

I believe the starter is slightly different, not sure the difference though. Bosh make a replacement. i think the man will fit the auto but not the other way around
The clutch, both the 4 and 6 have the same trouble, the pivot pin for the fork wears, this will cause incomplete release. it needs to be adjusted with a shim when put back together, the gregorys manual has the spec for it.

well i have a 94 TS 5speed, and i have found that everyone who knows anything about them sais there are a limited number of them around, in good nick anyway,
i don't know how true this is,
i drive it around all over the place and i have not seen one other V6 manual TR or TS sedan anywhere, they all seem to be auto's
PS don't know if anyone else has this problem but when i let the clutch out real slowly, i get a heavy engine bay vibration and steering column vibration, only intermittant mind u,
its not the engine rockers checked that,
new clutch and pressure plate, so not that,
checked master cylinder for pressure, even replaced master cyclinder, fixed for a while but back again
anyone got any ideas?
i Used to get that shuddering, like the engine was gonna pop out as well, mostly when my dad was driving. After i had a new clutch put in (bout 500km ago) it seems to be ok.
What kinda Km's have ppls TS's been, mines upto 204000km
It prolly just the dicks i took my car to that had no idea bout the car

Well if I still had the old motor I'd be almost on 300,000. My odometer is about 294,000
