Recently bought a Magna Altera TE 97. It doesn't have alloys, so it's time to get some on it. I see that Bob Jane TMart has a special on wheels: http://www.bobjane.com.au/Specials/Wheels.asp

I've been considering the AMG Blitz wheel package 18" with 235/40 R18 tyres. Mind you, I haven't much research on it yet, so I thought I'd post here first to see if any got any experience with these, or recommendations towards something else.

Thanks mate.

Damn thats cheap!

Only experience Ive had is with the MAXXIS tyres from bobjane.. theyre noisy, and not so good. I would be spending a little bit extra to get a better brand of tyre.

If you want a really huge selection of wheels (and tyres) then go to somewhere like Ozzy Tyres or Tempe Tyres. They are doing 17" packages (including a number of chromes) for $999 at the moment.

Dunno which rims, and would expect the tyres to be of very crappy quality, but hey, you will never know until you check them out.

Their service is usually top notch, and their range is like 3 times as large as Bob Jane or Beaurepaires.

i got nankang ultra sports from tempe they are really nice tyres, good grip (could be the extra 2" over stock tho lol)

just i got a feeling they will wear out fast, but the tyres they send out arnt hat crappy!

i looked at getting those Blitz, but i really dont like the style, shop around and dont worry bout getting rims sent to ur house either, im in perth but got mine sent from sydney took 4 days

Just a warning about Ozzie and Tempe.. they do try and over sell so do research first.. and make sure you are aware of what is legal and what is not. They take no responsibility for selling you underrated tyres or oversized wheels and will do so.

Ive had experiences with both tyre places, and the customer service and quality was superior at bobjane (although i know it does depend on the specific store). They dont have a small range, and they can order others in so just shop around and see who can give you the best price. Dont forget to get quotes for wheel alignment and balance as well as the fitting and the actual wheels.

tempe were good with me, eve tho they stuffed up (sent me 1 rim with wrong stud pattern) but was fixed up in a week, and i understood the lower rating on my car (93 not 95) but right now i dont have inusrance, so im happy with the tyres they sent me

and most tyre places by the sound of it dont take responsilbity of tyres/rims that are legal they just put whatever on

Yeh, but I guess for those who arent sure, some places will tell them and others wont. Thats the point I was trying to make. Id buy from Tempe.. but only after making sure of exactly what I wanted.

From my experience with bob jane, they're range of tyres wasn't too great. 17's were fine, but for 18's the cheapest thing they had available with an allowable load rating (mines 94, KH verada) was a $400 michelin.

I ended up getting my wheel's elsewhere, and Nankang Ultrasport 235/40R18 were pretty much the only tyres for a decent price that could take the load (load rating of 95). They're wear rating is reasonably high at 340 too, so I expect them to last some distance, but we'll wait and see. They're good, but definately not the grippiest things going around.

hey ZachMagna ,

bob jane's promotion clearly states that these packages might not fit all makes and models.
i was at bobjane on saturday and had a look at 16" in litz rim with maxisss tyre , it was 225/50 R16 93W. for magna's your tyre needs to be at least 94 load rating depending on different models.

So make sure you knwo what you are getting as you might end up with brand new tyres but void insurance and un roadworthy car.

cheers.

Thanks a lot for all your advices and sharing your experiences mates. By the sound of it, I should shop around a bit more and throw in some more money on the table to get quality instead of something that wears out in a few months.

I'm gonna check up on these places!
