alpine and eclipse seem to be ahead of the rest as far as amps, sumb, head units and speakers. in my view anyway.

alpine type s subs round $150 un boxed
decent h/u alpine or eclipse middle range around $400 - 500
amps alpine and eclipse again around $400 - 500
splits maybe alpine around $250

wil be pretty good. and alpine and eclipse have never let me down really. but buying the whole lot together, you would be able to get some awsome deals.

Not a big fan of alpines speakers/subs, just my O...

Morel, dynaudio, diamond, Hertz etc... Go out and have a listen to what tastes best for you.

Don't bother with upgrading your 6x9's rear fill isn't really worth it in my 0. Money would be better spent on good fronts and a small amp to power them. 2x50 w rms will be heaps.

Peace

Don't forget to budget for a couple of boxes of Dynamat Extreme or similar, makes a world of difference to the sound.

As for the equipment, get out and about and listen to as many different setups as possible, preferrably in cars not just in the shop.

Don't be afraid to mix and match makes as it gives you the ability to take the best from all. No one manufacturer out there is best at everything, so if you buy all of one make, something will be a compromise.

I too would suggest different equipment too. Let me know if you want me to elaborate. :)

I would of steered clear of and Sony products for my car. Sony isn’t the most reliable of car audio product out in the current market. They are however ideal if you have a tight budget or just want something in a hurry, but nothing too long term. A lot of my friends have had problems with Sony’s speakers; the subs blowing etc. But i guess it's honestly up to your opinion on the brand of car audio that you are after.
