View Full Version : I got bored and took it out on my car...
im a child care worker so when the kids are on holidays....i am too!
This deal is great but after 4 weeks of beaches, drinking, camping and watching endless amounts of TV while eating maccas in bed, i woke up yesterday and realised that if i watched one more day time soap i would explode so off i went to AutoPro and AutoBarn.
The result:
Blue Lights for my parkers( this looks awsome at night)
Red NOS Seat slips
Blue neon strip to got into the gaps on my dash( very subtle light and looks good)
Mitsubishi sticker on back windscreen
EMZ sticker infront of break light on the parsel shelf( thanks to the stylings of one of the AMC members)
Sprayed my discs red( no not the part the break pads touch)
sprayed my callipers red
sprayed my dash and cluster the same colour as my car( by far the best thing i have done it looks mad)
yeh i think that was all.......
After doing all this i went out and got some new break pads and thought that i would install them so i could go for a cruise today...........................in typical girl style..after compressing the breaks i went to put the new pads on and realised i had got the wrong ones.
Now my car has no breaks and it is sitting on stands which means i have no way to get the new pads and am stuck at home again.....and i am back to watching soaps for another day.

u could either put your old pads back in to go get the right ones, or get someone else get someone else, maybe even another AM member who lives near you, to take you to swap em, esp if some notice there wasnt any b/f to help you :bowrofl:
i got some of the pics to work but the rest i will re-take tonight so that you can see the full effect of the neons.
The pics are of:
*One of my rims
*the front of my car so you can see the grill and my new jack
*Back windscreen to show stickers
*Discs
*callipers with 1 coat of paint
Picture quality isnt the best cause it is 38 degrees here and sunny so there is alot of glare.
That would be a great idea if i wasnt the only ACT AMC member.......hehe. I think there might be 3 ACT members? I am still new to ACT as i am really a melbourne chick who made the move for my man. I would ask my friends to help but i dont have any.....just kiding. They all have real jobs as they put it...whatever that means? So they are not free to help.

nice work,
wish my gf was a handy with mods as you are, then again i wish i was as good as you are you seem to have most things under control.
how easy was the front grill and cutting it out and putting the mesh in behind as im looking to do mine as well, is it a do it yourself job? Im also looking at doing the same to the front bar on the bottom but might get a penel beater to do this for us.
thanks helpis appreciated
Jaz
different people say different ways on how they did their grill and on how they found it was doing it.
For me:
i had my Bf help me cause i found holding and bending the mesh very harsh on my hands after a fresh manicure(no joke it recks the paint job on my nails). It was also good with 2 people cause to bend the mesh into the mold of the bracket the stupid thing rocks around its hard to keep it still.
first i went and cut the mesh into two halves so it fit onto each side of the original grill.
Seperate the grill and the bracket and turn the bracket upside down(logo down).
I then moulded the two pieces of mesh into the bracket and cut where it needed to be cut so it fitted in flush.
I then had my BF hold the mesh and the bracket while i pushed the original grill over the mesh.
I had him hold it all together s it wouldnt pop out while i screwed it all together.
hope this helps

sounds like i need to take mine off an have a look at it,
so you dont actually need to cut any of the plastic bits i assume they just come out as i only just got my car back from the panel beaters today i havnt looked too hard at the grill yet. Sounds easy how you put it anyways i might even have a go this weeknd if i get bored :)
thanks again

yeh this week i was bored/piss off and i took it out on my door trims, YET AGAIN!
For those that can remember i have done a million different fabrics with my door trims but i am pretty sure i have settled on one now :D
the only cutting needed when doing the grill is on the mesh itself. the rest is just moulding it to the original grill and squashing the bracket back over it.
today i went and brought some carbon fibre lookalike contact and did the door trim.
up close a few wrinkles but its only a trial. Took it to some mates to get the thumbs up or down and they love it. From a a step back it looks like the real thing but the only thing giving it away it the wrinkles on the edge and a slight shine when light hits it. im gonna do the rest when the heat is gone. It would look better in a Dusty Green to match the colour coding i did inn the car but black looks cool.
My mate reckons it looks real sporty. It only cost $20 from auto pro.

whats dusty green?
Its not light green and its not dark green its in the middle.
It is sort or a pale green with a hint of silver in it that makes it a dusty greeny colour. Its called greenstone.

Well done.. i wonder if the mental picture i built reading that is anything like what it supposed to be lol
other than the magna, i have never ever seen another type of car with this colour.
When i first got the car the colour was faded and looked like a real pastal green....yucky...
when i sprayed my consol and front grill bracket i got the paint re made to match and brand new this colour looks nuts.....i love it now and consider the faded bits as parts that just needextra love.I was going to get the car sprayed a metalic purple but now that i have seen what the original paint looked like brand new i am thinking i will just respray the same colour.
at least with this colour i know that there are no other cars apart from the magna (i have only ever seen up to the TF model with this paint)have this colour and it feels like a sort of exclusive thing.
If you ever see what you think is a magna with this colour have a closer look and try to imagine it brand new cause it shimmers like crazy...
I THINK I HAVE A CRUSH ON MY PAINT JOB!
