Hey guys!
I'm about to get the following gear installed. I just wanted to run it past some of the ICE gurus before I sign the deal :-) Could I get a better component for around the same price etc etc..
Front Splits: Focal 165A
Amp: Alpine MRV-F340
Sub: Alpine SWS-1222D
Headunit: JVC KD-S895 (Pre existing)
Let me know what you think.

You won't beat Focal for the components.
Some say the tweets can be a little bright for their tastes, but you can knock them down in the crossovers if you find that.

I find most tweets are too bright. Mount them down low in the kick panels... It will take the sting out of them...
Looks like a good setup mate. How much though?
You will definetly want a front amp. Even something small.

Yep, I am thinking of having the tweeters mounted in the door panels. If they're on the dash they're also easily visable.
All up including install it is setting me back $1400. Getting a laserline alarm system installed at the same time which is a further $395.

Sounds good. I got a JVC kdsx985 and never had any problems with it. That price seems reasonable. Although I still don't understand why people don't do it themselves lol
You'd save a fair bit of money. Ah well.
See how much for a small amp for your fronts. Even something cheap will be a 100% improvement on your headunit.

I'm actually running the whole lot off the amp. Sure, the power to the sub won't be as much as it would be with a mono block but for the type of music I am in to (not RnB and Rap etc) I don't think it will be too much of an issue.
I would install it myself if I knew how to, but really I don't have the time to learn at the moment :-( Not to mention the patience! :-)

ill tell you why people dont do it themselves... having your car in peices for 3 days thats why..... and getting in awkward positions on your car floor or in the boot and having back spasms and having to remove everything again cause you didnt wire it properly and so on ... aaagggrrr!!!!! it brings back horrid memories!!!

but until you've done it enough times wont take u 3 days at all..
took me just under an hr to completly install my amp today including a new cable from the battery through the fire wall
it is very fiddley and annoying on these HOT days....
you should be fine running the splits and that sub off the amp for the time being, but yeah, its best if you found another amp....esp a monoblock (get a mrd 300,500 or even 1000) just to match :P
btw, i have the exact same headunit for nearly a year now, and its been PERFECT, love it :D
