My TR Magna has developed a problem.
It was flaring and no drive at all then we tightened the kickdown band and checked the switch. It has happened gradually and now I don't have any gears except 3rd. My husband has checked everything such as
TPS
Pedal switch
inhibitor switch
and timing.
When he finished checking the car was good for about 5 mins. Then it went back to being gearless. It hasn't fixed the problem and now we're stumped. Please don't tell me the box is stuffed.
Thanks people.

One really far out there thing i have come across, there is a relay or fuse (i cant remember) for the gearbox on the auto cars. If it blows, transmission locks in 3rd gear and wont change out of it (you dont get any other gears, just 3rd). It is like a safety feature, when it reports a fault or something fails, the gearbox locks itself in 3rd gear.

Fluid Level
speed sensor
inhibitor switch
kickdown servo switch
selector cable

The problem will either lie in there, or a fault in the electronic circuit itself. Aside from any problems with the gearbox, or any faults logged, that should find you the problem.
