im considering removing my subs because it sounds good on the inside but on the outside i sound like a tool. cos my car rattles so much
i cannot pin point where it is coming from. is there anything common that everyone has had to remove/fix to stop rattling? it seems to be coming from the outside, somewhere under the boot. any ideas ppl?
its not the number plate cos i have that off.

what model u have? the 3rds gens i know have problems if theres lots of pressure with the vents that exit behind the bumper in the boot (can't remember exact location) also the plastic decor panel under the numberplate, umm... the parcel shelf can lift and rattle, the rear vision mirror, and i even have problems with the heat shields for the exhaust... i'm gonna sound deaden the ENTIRE boot area when my car is done and see what happens!

It will most likely be a resonating bootlid. Cover the lot with a tar based deadener. This will be the main source of noise.

with the verada you also have the problems of the extra lights in the bootlid they could also rattle

yeah i rekon theres a noise coming from the extra lights too
hi,
i took my kicker sub out cos of the same problem.
i fixed a few of the rattles but have given up for now, might look into it later but high power to 6x9's will do me for now.
a few probs i found are as follows:
- plastic trim on the bottom half of the bootlid, (replaced the bootlid with a TJ bootlid)
- rattle coming from the roof (the sealer used between the roof and main brace had dried and was rattling, removed roof liner and pumper window sealer into the gap, :D all good now, replaced roof liner)
- bolts under car for towbar, (they were all loose, same with some of the bumper bolts)
- number plate (just run thin foam/sponge behind the plate before you tighten it up,
still rattles from the bumper somewhere and also from the underneath of the bootlid, will look into it one day, when i can be bothered,
anyway, hope this helps,
don't give up like me though, cos it can be stopped, i've heard some nice bass comin from a few 3rd gen magnas with no rattle.

I had a rattle comin from the little metal plate (washer thingy) which was holding down the spare tyre. Dunno how it came loose but that was my only problem to date with rattles from my sub

I had a stupid number of Rattles on my TH - 2 X 12" facing backwards towards the rear of the car, until i undertook the following:
Plastic backing on the outside of the bootlid rattling.
Solution: Filled with rags and selleys all-cleared it solid
Number Plate Rattling.
Solution: cloth bolted between boot and number plate
Whole boot assembly rattling like a mofo.
Filled the whole interior frame of the boot lid with expanding foam
I have a large thick blanket between the carpet and the piece of wood that sits over the spare tire. I was also getting loose coins working their way into the little comparments in the corners of the boot and causing more rattles.
The only rattles i get now are the rear vent ones that cannot be located (behind the bumber and rear wheels) and the rear vision mirror.
