Well a 4cyl is gonna be cheaper than a 6 or 8, less parts :D
Anyway I depends on what needs to be done plus your reco turbo will up the price too. As with everything it varies and wiil depend on how far you want to go or need to.

or could save up for a bigger one like a t25 for cheap and sell the stock one for 20 or something hmmm the cars done 200 000 would it need doing i plan on running 15 pounds of boost for short periods of time will the age of the engine hold the pressure ?

Probably not but that depends on whats been done to the engine in the past.
Running high boost would put alot of strain on the motor, also considering the stock boost is only around 5psi isnt it.

yeah 5 do you know much about turbo'd engines cause the boost gauge says 1 pound now for some reason but the computer in ET's is under the a seat and the car will run lean and you have to wiggle the wires to reset it then it goes though all the mixtures again

Recondition generaly to a person means new main bearings, big end bearings, rings, linished block, oil pump setup and whatever else is worn like water pumps, plus gaskets. Labour included should be around 1000 dollars and your engine will be 98% as it was when brand new.
To a workshop a rebuild or recondition is new oversized pistons, 10thou bored block, reconditiond head, and everything above.. this is generaly alot more pricey. Only needed if the bores are scored. After a full rebuild the engine will be 105%
You can sometimes be unlucky and the lack of earlier rebuild has caused a bearing to spin or you have a scored crank, this adds to price obviously
Turbo rebuilds cost upto 800 dollars but for a ET with a T25 and just the normal sleave bearing cartrige it shouldn't be more than 700 and maybe alot less. i have a guide on how to rebuild them i wrote up if your intersted, its quite simple
hope that helps

this might be worth a look. i could write up a guide on how to rebuild ET pulsars if you like, i would hate to recall the memory tho :P too many things were done cheaply, against my advice.

E series engine very common so parts cheap and a basic rebild wouldnt be more than $2000 tops including labor, i would think. but since its a turbo i would spend about another 1000$ and go for forged pistons and conrods to up the boost which u will inevitably want to do.
the E series pulsar/exa is a very overlooked engine/car, and can get u into 13 secs or less for much less money than RB20 etc Nissan motors.

Dont forget head work, more than likely new valves, springs, stem seals, cam bearings if aplicable, maybe valve guides and seats if they're flogged/won't clean up.

thanks for saying that altera98 they can but they are limited to pretty much 11 sec best because of the engine size and fwd but still thanks for all your help
