hi all.
I have just installed a TL console thing in my car cause of the window switches etc. Now I was just thinking, has the climate control out of a TL got its own seperate computer? Like does it hook up to the ECU or is it seperate. I would realy like to do the whole TL console swap, rather than painting the bottom bit to suit. (I had to mod a few things to get it in properly as its a bit bigger than the standard one.)
Does anyone know of a wreckers that has TL?.
Cheers!
(im not sure if i should put this in this section or the tech section)

that was the idea of the thread, i need to know if its possible to put the whole TL console in. otherwise the whole console is going blue.
i dont have the power windows yet. this was just the first step, it saves me changing the door trims completely, ill just need to block off the holes where the winders were.

Just fill up the holes with blue fluff...or chuck a big LED light into them or something...maybe even chuck your tweeters in there ;)

That looks Sweet TRboy! did you get that new from Misubishi or 2nd hand?? If new - how much did it set you back? I'd fully swap one of those into my TJ - if there was an easy way to get rid of the power window controlers currently in my doors.
Is the climate control the only thing stopping you from replacing the upper console?? I wouldn't have thought that a climate control unit would be tied in with the ECU - but I could be mistaken.

I got it 2nd hand off SLO3L.
If you were interested i would swap you door trims and consoles :D
Yeah it is the climate control stopping me. And i would have to get different mounting brackets for the sterio as it sits different in the TL. Im hoping its on a seperate computer...
thanks for the comments!! :D

hehe i still have my 2nd gen avatar, but i have a 3rd gen now :P
yo Rob, the climate control computer is seperate from the ECU. I think its embedded in the body electronics module, but i'll need to confirm that.
and I'm looking for the TL centre console with the rear vents on them.

not trying to ruin the day - but ill just add some experience in here..
in the short - if you were around/if you know - i run a haltech ECU... when we changed from the OEM MMAL ecu, to the haltech, we lost a LOT of functions which had to be either a) re wired b)re configered (using switches and small circuits)
bascally we changed the ECU - we had no aircon... we had to rewire the airconditioning to run on its own seperate circuit. *IF* the climate control *is* controlled by the ECU, then you will have difficulties getting it to work perfectly. - not saying it cant be done, but be prepaired to encounter some frustration.
if it is a straight and or / *simple* swap - im watching

Im prepared ben. Keep in mind i am keeping the existing ECU and upgrading to a climate control system witch we both currently DONT have. So maybe the climate conrtol does have its own computer thing that is a add on to the existing ECU.
Come to think of it the A/C has to hook up to the ECU in some way because when you turn the A/C on, the revs raise. Something has to tell the car to do that, and i think its the computer.
Im not making much sence so im going to shut up now.

Y not try and fit a TJ climate control module, they are much nicer than the TL dial only model. U can also mod the little screen by putting a blue led in to match the rest of your interior
