I previously had an RPW CAI kit which put the pod and the Mas sensor near to the ground in the front guard. After some big rain the car stalled and wasnt running well, a few days later it was fine again. I took this kit off due to the mas sensor getting so wet. Now six months down the track the mas sensor has failed in its stock position. I thought I would post this as a warning for all of you that has the mas sensor close to the ground. Im not sure if anyone else has had this problem yet?
Anyone got a spare mas sensor?

 That's not good. *looks at pod, aliminium pipe and bends about to go in*
Do you know exactly how/why it failed?
Sounds like water got into the electronic bizzo inside and corroded it gradually.

This is the reason I didn't want to go down that track.
Seems to be too open for damage, dirt etc..
Maybe an unrelated failure however but yeah, you're probably right to be suspicious.
How much is the new one gonna set you back?

I've got an attempted CAI (ground away airbox with stormwater piping) on my first gen, but that means that the MAS Sensor stay in stocko position, thats a bummer dude. Can't RPW fix it up for you?

I'd strongly recommend attempting to clean your existing MAS sensor before paying for a new one, some carby cleaner or similar should do the trick ...

I will try to pull apart the box on the side of the unit to check the conditions of the electronics but i dont have a lot of hope. This failed after I had a revised CAI with a boxed pod in the factory location for about 2 months as the RPW one was pretty crappy/amateur.

No DON'T use carby cleaner as it is an electronic component. Use CRC electrical contact cleaner, which sprays on and then evaporates leaving minimal residue. Carby cleaner is meant to be wiped/washed off, which if you do will obviously damage the MAF sensor even more.

Yep - use CRC CO Contact Cleaner Code 2016 - white and blue can, get it from dick smith.
It says no residue, but um... they lie.
PS - It is great stuff to have for cars, cleans contacts on EFI plugs, detachable face cd players etc.

rather fortunately it looks like i can a replacement one from a wreckers for $60 so if it is still stuffed after rewiring and cleaning it then its not too tragic.

hmmm i was out and about tonight and the same thing happened to my car. If the MAS sensor does decide to die on me, i'll put the stock system back on and ship it back to mitsu under warrenty. i hope
