Sorry if this has been covered before, but i did a quick search and couldnt find anything..

gf has a 98 magna and she wants an alarm, few questions
how do u go hooking the alarm up to the cars stock central locking?
is it possible to connect an alarm up to use the magna key fob thingy lol..
does the magna automatically lock the car at all, say u open the door and close it again, does it lock the car at all? havent taken much notice of this, but coudl be a problem if we use an alarm to open/close the doors rather than the stock immobiliser thing-o..

umm hope this made sence, im sure i will have more questions, especially if im gonna be doing it myself. i have had experiences putting central locking and alarms in older cars, but nothing newer than 90/91 and nothing with stock central locking and immobilisers and stuff.. so ur help would be appreciated...

Unless you know what you're doing I'd be thinking not to fit the thing yourself, but to have it done by a professional. Cost for an 'add-on' fitted professionally should be around the $500 mark.

I have an aftermarket alarm fitted to mine - its an 'add-on' type that works with the existing immobilizer / locking system - Repeller its called as I remember.

Regarding it and your points:

A: Its completely integrated - the alarm locks and unlocks the doors when it arms and disarms.

is it possible to connect an alarm up to use the magna key fob thingy ..

A: I don't think so - im my case there's a different fob - which is a pest since this meant I lost the remote boot release function. Other models of alarm may well allow this function.

A: Hmmmm - no not quite like you say. The only situation I have found where it 'locks itself' is, say you use the remote to disarm the alarm, but then do not open any doors at all - then the alarm will reset it self after about a minute, and will re-lock all the doors.
