Try a wreckers. If you have no joy buy a new one from Mitsubishi. They are held on by 4 of those little 'push pin' type clips. (you can actually see one on the bottom of the picture, the the other seems to be missing and two you cant see because they live inside the cover)

not really - it just slips over the battery and is held in by a clip..

ill have a dig around for my original one, i *dont* think i have it anymore, but ill have a look for it.

its only a very simple plastic cover, but very effective in cleaning up the engine bay :D

You can get them through your local parts department but they were insanely expensive last time i checked which was a while ago. Can't remember what the price was but I didn't place an order, instead pulled one out of me TE before I sold it.

Still worth a phone call to your local dealers parts dept.

Weren't the battery boxes removed from the TJ magna's because they caused the batteries to prematurely fail due to overheating?

i would like to know the answer to that too
Would it also effect the TE/TF/TH

is there any truth to it.

From what ive been told, they were originally designed to keep hot air away from the battery, but the hot air just goes underneath and gets stuck in there, so they dont work properly. It make's sense in my eyes.

I haven't had a drama, but I have this whoopee doo heat resisitant super heavy duty battery, but I never really thought about this before... I suppose if you were concerned you could drill a couple of discreet holes in the box to let the hot air out.

I would say it is more like cost cutting with the TJ onwards more than anything else.

Those battery covers are fairly well sealed considering.

Definitely they can be a problem - I remember reading on another auto mechanic website about 18 months ago (can't remember the link now) that battery covers can cook the battery on hot days. I assumed that's why the TJ didn't come with one.

I took the cover out of my old TH, and I notice the Ralliart didn't have one fitted at all.
