Hello all, first post here. I have just installed some new 4" 2-way kenwoods in the dash on my TS Wagon. I had trouble getting the hacksaw in to cut away some of the plastic so I undid all the screws on the dash and pulled it forward. The only problem is now my dash lights dont work and whenever i have my headlights on the lights for the gearbox dont work either (the lights on the gear box and on the dash telling me what gear I'm in) with the exception of reverse. For some reason the 'R' light still comes on when reversing .
To rule out the obvious, I have checked all my fuses (no problems there) and all of my other lights still work (interiour room, headlights, indicators, brake/tail, number plate and reverse).
My guess is the problem was caused when I took out the instrument dash out (ie. the unit with the speedo, odometer etc). If anyone has any thoughts...

when u say 'dash lights' arent working do u mean the lights for the aircon and all that? Or just the instrument cluster?
try taking out ur instrument cluster and putting it back in, mught just not be in right?

Looked into it a bit more. the back light for the instrument clusters doesnt work, nor do the lights for AC, Dimister etc. the only lights i get is R (or reverse), and the low petrol light (when Im low on petrol).

sorry
it had to be said.....Though....have you checked if you have broken any connectors for powering the lights or any things like that?
a singular bent pin could screw heaps of things up

first things first check the globes, obvious really
if all the guages etc are working you may have damaged the printed circuit behind the instument cluster, go to a wrecker, get another one, should be no more than 30 bucks and try that.
I doubt you damaged any wiring, however check above the fuse box where the wiring on the drivers side connects to the upper fuse panel and check the plug is pushed in properly as it may have come adrift.

Thanks for your advice everyone. Sorry I hadn't got back to you for ages - I have been flat out with work and familly stuff. Problem is now solved - apparantly I hadn't plugeed the riostat back in (I had to take it in to my mechanic to find out).
