Welcome to the forums.

Every stereo code is different - sorry, no master code that will unlock all (that I've ever heard of, and I asked the same question and have seen it asked many times since).

Ring your nearest mitsubishi dealership, tell them the problem and your VIN number (this should definetly be in the handbook!) and if they're nice they'll tell you your code. I have heard that they may want to charge you for this service (like $20 or something), if thats the case I suggest hanging up and ringing your next nearest dealership.

I disconnected my battery not long ago...rang up, they said they can't give it to you over the fone even if you have your VIN with you...You have to personelly go in to a Mitsi Dealership and see them...Which sux friggan galloopers!

After I bought my Magna second hand, same thing happened to me, I rang Mitsu, explained the situation, and the very helpful lady on the other end of the phone gave me the number. Only problem now is of course, half the times when I start the car, the radio doesn't work, like, its powered up, but nothing is happening. Gotta hit the PWR button a couple of times for to come back to life.

Most will give you the code, but you need the VIN and proof of ownership (rego papers is enough). Might need a receipt from whoever/wherever you purchased the vehicle for the narky dealers.

I don't think they are supposed supposed to charge you for it, but some probably will.

My Mitsi dealer gave me mine over the ohone. Depends on how tight they play the rules I guess.

I don't know why Mitsubishi even bother to code their factory stereos as they are very basic units and in my opinion I don't think thieves would bother to flog them anyway.

Sure but it's still nice to have the extra piece of mind that not only is it a basic unit to start with, but the code is gonna make it damn hard to use if someone does nick it - its double protection :D

New Mits policy is that you have to take the car into the dealership with proof of ownership, IE rego papers.

It's to easy to steal one (stuffed if I know why you would want to) and get the vin from the rego sticker so now you have to prove ownership.........

Dont take your car to Preston Motors they want $22.00 for the code.
Heidelberg Mitsubishi said they will do it for a smile, I know who will be serviceing my car.

Well every other manufacturer has put security coded units in their cars, what else can Mitsubishi do? They need to follow the marketing trend targeting the unknowledged people.
