Hey Guys,

Finally got around to replacing my shockers all the way round the car about a week ago and figured I should do something about my rattling sway bar at the same time. Rang my mechanic and got a price for the links, (they are apparently only available through Mitsu) I nearly fell over!!! $250.00 for two small pieces of steel!! Common***** and Falcon ones are only around 50 bucks, even BMW ones are apparently cheaper!! That job moves straight to the backburner!!

mate go down to your nearest repco store, i guarantee you'll be able to source the parts from their at half the price. i may be wrong, but it sounds like your mechanic is taking you for a ride...

$250 would get some awesome custom links made up in some HUGE f*ckoff thickness :D Say hello to a 26mm front swaybar?

I know it sounds like hes taking me for a ride, but hes a mate of mine and I confirmed the price as well! The wreckers was my fall back option, but summer is way too hot to be walking around car wreckers, at least this week anyway!! I was out at Kilsyth Wreckers a few weeks ago looking for a hubcap for a Datsun 260C of all things!! Bizarely enough we found 3 of them, I reckon they must be the last three in the country.

They love to do that... I once got quoted $1200  for a new brake pads all round, rear discs checked (& machined if necessary) and new dba slotted front discs.

I can confirm that they are only available from Mitsu unless there is another vehicle that has something similar.

Mine are off a TJ I found at a wrecking yard a while ago.

REPCO is a bad option for any parts, they stand for Rip Every Poor C*&^ Off

If you are in NSW or VIC, Burson is the way to go, I am still trying to find somewhere in Adelaide to give decent prices

Which sway-bar is this? (front one?)

Can you get a Whiteline aftermarket one or something? Or is this something different?

Yer they are that expensive.

One of mine broke on the front.

I went to the wreckers and bought two for around $20. I then got some new mild steel washers to replace the worn ones and new polyurethane bushes.

This way I had rebuild two of the links for under $100.lol

Car handles well now.

The V6 BTW is a long link and easily available from Pedders. The 2.6 Astron a short one and as rare as hens teeth.

Thats true, i just had the timing belt, water pump and sparks done on my car. Got it done at friends work and he went and got all the parts trade price for me (gave him cash inadvance).

He got the timing belt kit from repco, according to the reciept trade price was only $118. But retail price is $202  . Thats an $80 difference, i wonder how much repco get the part for when trade price is only $118. I would guess less than $100.
