Hi guys just lettin u know that im plannin to put a blower on my ralliart not a biggie just an electric s/c only it'll give me an xtra 20kw heres wat it looks like

Its alright it only cost 150$ + p/h. Iwas tryin to fiddle around a bit earlier. was tryin to attach it between the t/b and maf sensor minimum mods required ill hav some pics once its installed.

Be warned dude, I've gone down this path with posting up results and pics for these things, I copped a lot of flaming from ppl... btw, where did you get your unit from? got any specs? what rpms? what cfms? what power and current draws? did it come with relay and WOT switch?

The photos look like they're for ships or boat ventilation fans, I hope you didn't get one of them, coz there are scams out there with this things...

How heavy is the unit? does it produce enough thrust to lift itself off the ground? I know the eRam i had could, it was a pretty powerful fan.

did it actually work? for u whitedvl

Yes, it did, a minor increase in acceleration was felt subjectively. Objectively, 0-100 times improved very very slightly by ~0.1sec, 0-400m times improved by ~0.3sec using G-tech.

Im very sceptical with these things. It appears that the restriction of the unit itself would prevent any gain that the fan would produce.

My theory, bolt it on and let us know how it goes.

I had a look at the ERam - 57A and 1000cfm looks like some serious numbers - and 1 psi positive boost would produce increased power output - if it was indeed 1psi boost once at wot...

I would be interested in your success or otherwise too...

Also - I remember seeing one that looked like a sprintex supercharger that was good for 3psi - but took something like 120A out of the alternator + battery (eek) to do so!

Edit - found it - or at least one version of it... http://www.boosthead.com/home.php

the unit is light and is made out of hard plastic like a flexible pvc its a 3" diameter and 5" long its a 12 v 2.6 amp and i forgot and lost the copy of the spec but this unit came from us

Yeah, I've read about the sprintex ones as well, VERY expensive to buy, kinda defeats the purpose of having a cheap blower.

The 1psi eRam claims is ONLY under static pressure, it is NOT under WOT, they actually say that in their website in explaination, they said in WOT the eRam would give an overall pressure of around .5psi!!!

As for the wires being too thin, 57amp would be peak, the average would be lower and you don't actually run the unit for that long, it doesn't heat it up enough to melt anything. In the few days I had my friend's eRam, I did manage to blow 2 fuses.

I don't know about this unit pictured above, so I'm interested in how it performs as well. It would be good if you could take some current measurements while you're installing it with a multimeter.

There's heaps of results out there, some good some bad, some real some fake, and heaps of scams, ppl trying to sell boat ventilation fans as a positive displacement charger. The closest relative to e/charger would be the rc plane motor fans. I've been looking into them as well as a cheaper alternative, or could order the motor seperately to the fan and housing that way you can get the best setup for thrust and power.

errr.... 2.6 amps only? that's a whole 31.2Watts of power consumption! there won't be much torque from this you know. you could probably hold it with your finger and it'll stop spinning.

and yeah the unit runs at 1200 cfms and its a toggle switch controlled but im hopin that some 1 could attach it to my accelerator if possible

2.6A is a joke - I cannot imagine that it would have any positive gains here...

That is a bilge ventilation fan from a boat - you can get them from Bias boating Warehouse for not much more than $80 IIRC.

The ERam - hrmmm... It looks exactly like a ducted fan for model aeroplanes - I though it looked familiar. I think that the fuel based versions of these engines would be a better bet :)

Edited - http://www.hobby-lobby.com/ductfan.htm - looks familiar? Look at the prices :P

The "super e-ram" (yes, that's what it's called), puts out 1.7 psi and is basically two e-rams in tandem.

WARNING: Discussing the pros or cons of electric superchargers on this or any other forum will lead to ...... :bowrofl: :gtfo:

these things will be debated about until someone buys one and does a before and after dyno on the same day. If someone does that then we will know until then there is no conclusion

Pc fans turned superchargers!?

Cool. :gtfo:

yeah it is funny but ill settle for this one right now see how it goes and beside by the time sprintex is available for ralliart my missus will be finished her uni and then i can afford anything specially shes finishing law.

That one doesn't look like it'd do much at all, i like the design of the ones that look like real turbo's cuz even if the fan didn't pull enough air in it wouldn't stuff up air flow (providing the intake pipes are bigger than 2.5").

At first, i thought you were joking, but then i realised you werent..

You buy a decent car and stick a plastic bauble on it.. Nice way to slow it down..

I rekon it would work awesome in an overclocked pc case!

All those cfm coming from a pc fan, is there a little radiator you can buy so we can all have an 'Electric Refrigerated Pc-Fan Supercharger!' while only looking for 20kw gains we noticed a 30kw gain at topend.

Gee wow, and only $150?! How could it be? A marketing ploy!?!??!

(ok i've banned myself from this topic)
Put it on and feel the wraith ok.

And if you find it's not worth using for the extra .3 seconds send it to WA during mid febs so we can use it on a dyno.

Not knocking the electric supercharger things would like to see the results of any performance mod but i thought that super chargers were postive displacment eg:they have seals
