Hi All,
had a problem with my TR not starting the other day, turning over but no ignite. Did the usual tests: dissie cap, leads, plugs, sparks, coil etc and no result as there was no spark at all. Having read the manual I did the diagnostic test using an anologue ammeter (next to inside fuse box) and indicated the ECU!! GULP!! Rang around the wreckers etc and best good quote was $275-$400 for 2nd hand one that could go the same way. Rang around a few electrical specialists and found "Precision Electrics" in Welshpool and they stated they could repair the "common" problem for $275. Went in and saw loads (15+) of the same ECU sitting being fixed for car dealers /traders!!! The company explained that this is a common fault with TRs and easy to fix the motherboard if the damage caused by a leaking/exploding capacitor isnt too bad. Got it back 24hrs later and runs like a dream again!! And also have the knowledge that it will not do the same thing for another 100 thou Kms at least as fixed good and proper!! :D

Sorry for the long thread but thought it relevant as could save a lot of heartache and a few of u being ripped off by the wreckers.

Cheers.
