ok,
its prob been asked before but i want specific answers
i have lowered my verada with kings superlows front and lows on the rear and as i travel some pretty average roads these days i need to upgrade my front struts as they keep getting problems (eg last time i got a wheeel allignment and i got them to check the front struts the nut stripped itself off the end of the strut, and its now making the same noise again). Should i upgrade the rear as well or leave it? Anyways i need some quotes on how much this will cost me and what stuts i should get and shocks if i need to upgrade the rears as well.
thanks
jaz

If you drop your car further than 30mm you should get new struts and shocks - period. So, yes, do the upgrade as soon as possible. You don't need to spend a fortune, I just got Monroe GT Gas struts and shocks and they were about $400 for the lot + installation. Verry happy with them so far too. :)

Also, if you didn't whn you lowered it, get a wheel allignment... about $55 for a 4 wheel allignment.

Also installation will be charged in labor. It's anywhere from $50-$75/hour. Each front strut should take 1 hour each. and the rears should take an hour for the two. Thats just a rough guide, but that makes it roughly 3 hrs labour... $150 - $225

where did these guys learn to work on cars i the fronts will take me all of 20-25 mins ans a bit longer on the rear because of having to get under the parcel shelf lol so about 1 hour max all up. i should do this for a living and make heaps lol.

iv been ringing around to get new front struts for my car and the only guy i could find that does GT munroes said that he wont do my car cause its lowered, no ifs or buts he said if i brought it in he would refuse to touch it. Rekens i need to get a shorter strut as iv lowered it and he says the only guys that make them is pedders and apprently these are heaps expensive to get. Is this guy right, did anyone have to buy special struts for theirs?

Im tempted to just put the original springs back in and get sports suspeion on it as its just annoying me now.

I went with the KYB for my 02 Diamante, nothing special. I'm getting ready to put on different springs in the car shortly to get a lower drop and I'm leaving the current struts in place since they are less than 1 1/2 yr old.

Not sure what that guy is talking about but you may want to go elsewhere to get your car done.

I'm using Monroe's and I've lowered my front by 3" and rear by 1.75". No problems for me.

Sounds Like Bull to me go the KYB'S i am going to get em in soon apearetly they are just the right hight and give a nice and firm ride but not to bumpy. I think i have shortened the life of my origionals by lowering my car, any ideas on how long on average they should last anyone?

When you install super lows the F/struts are nearly on their urethane bump stop  so if your driving on rough surfaces your struts will bottom out on the bigger bumps. If someone does do a shorter strut (Pedders ?) that could be the way to go but I was told the other day that nobody does them by a suspension specilist

yeh pedders only do them for commodore and falcon and we get jack, but even so they are $700 a strut so not too easy on the pocket.

Im getting mine done with pedders sports suspension on the front on wednesday so hopefully that fixes my problems will cost $517 and that includes labour and a free wheel allignment.
thanks all
