Hey guys,
After installing my new wing i've come to have a problem. My boot wont pop up, i need 2 people to open the boot, one to pull the lever and one to pull the boot open. Is there ANYTHING i can do to fix this? I plan on fixing the boot lock soon, so hopefully when that's fixed i can just turn the lock and lift at the same time, but is there anything i can do til then?

See if there's a way you can get stronger springs? I dunno...gas lift struts? lol Just throwing u ideas

Yeah, sounds like you need stronger boot springs.

or you could install a boot opening mechanism on your roof, its an arm that pulls the boot up while your pushing the release button(saves someone standing at the back of your car :D).

See if you can get hold of some Ralliart boot springs, They are made a lot stronger because of the spoiler.
Not sure about the length thou. Just another thougt...........

Reverse a bear trap (so it springs open, not shut). lol
Give that a shot. lol

On a more serious note... better springs might be the only (cheapest) way to go.

hehe thanks heaps guys! I was thinking springs but didn't know if there were springs or it just unlatches  . I'll take a look tomorrow when it's light, any idea on where i can get springs and which ones? are they easy to replace? i'll have to have a look tomorrow.

Where are the springs??? All i see is the bar and the latch. I can get it opened by myself if i pull it right up 3 times really quickly (yes i tried it twice and 4 times and it didn't work, but 3 goes it worked by pulling it 3 times  ). Also is it possible to get the boot to stay in the air, i had it sitting there but the weight came down on me whilst i was playing with one of my parcel shelf speakers and nailed me in the shoulder, hurt heaps but not as bad as it could have been!

Take the wing off, its not needed.

lol im jokin mate

Um i dont think we have springs, or compressors. Just that twisty bar that curves around the lower rear window.
You might have to find a small low pressure compressor bar thingo of some form and hook it up to the boot. Wouldnt be hard, just need to find the right size and mount it on the right angle in the right spot.

To do this perfectly your gonna need to know your physics in regards to dimensions and wieghts and pressure properties etc.
Or you can just take a stab in the dark and hope for the best :D

Good Luck

I have the oppisite problem... I took the Spoiler off my VRX so every time i open the boot the bloody thing fly`s up at a million miles and hour. i got to catch it so it dont fly up so fast cause im scared of it breaking off...

Take it the boots bars are differant to exec for the weight factor...

First of all mate I would look at the cable adjustment.

There is a place to adjust under the rh side of the back seat, you can lengthen the outer cable, it is a little white clip with multiple places to attach it.

Als the gas lift struts are brilliant to not only halp lift the boot but also to control the rate in which the boot lid lifts.

This can also be used in reverse, for the guy who has removed a wing, try them to control how fast your boot rises

Ok i'll try adjusting the cable, but if that fails how do you install the gas lift struts and where do you get them from? how much?

I now have the problem of my boot being too light after de-winging the VRX. The boot just doesn't open a bit, it swings up with full force.

Kinda looks cool but not good for the boot im sure...

Install an electric remote boot release.

Then you can lift & press at the same time = 1 guy job.

Electronic boot release, how bling...

Also on this note guys, is it possible to buy those crappy ricey suicide clips sold on ebay which make it so the boot opens while lights still face you.. lambo door-style on your boot.

Food for thought..

Well its pretty cool, i just hit the remote boot release on the key remote and watch it swing up by itself, very trick lol

Cept most of the time i have to catch it before it hits the rubber stops coz this thing flys up at full force lol

To install the gas lifts, have a look at a car that has them already and you just basically use a similar design in your car

Mine has the remote boot release as it is an XI Verada
