Hey all,
I have herd of a sigma 2L head being bolted up the an astron 2 2.6L block
(accidental stuff up at a wreakers)
as suspected the person who i asked about it said it gave an insane compresion boost
YET there was a ignition or compresion knock he couldnt get rid of when he put that head on so he took the head back and they relised the stuff up and gave him the proper head for the engine
im looking into building a high compresion astron 2 as soon theres genna be no turbos or chargers for p platers.
so im wondering has any one else put the 2L head on there 2.6L block and had it run and found a way to get rid of the knock?
thanks all
scott

could not be quite true the head of the sigma 2L does not have the provision for the extention on the camshaft for the magna water pump plus the head of the 2L is ten mm shorter across then the 2.6L head

Except there is two diffrent 2l and 2.6 liter heads, i know for a fact that one of the sigma 2L heads would bolt up to an astron 2 as ive seen it, yet didnt see it run

I can only go off the 1980 model 2l as my son has an original 2L Factory Turbo model the manifolds fit from the 2L to 2.6L as i have the t3 turbo off an 80 model

It wont fit u have a astron #2 the 2.0L is astron#1 thin intake manifolds are different
But thay have bean altered to fit
Thay are different withes but that dusent mater
Yes Sagna u are right u knead the extension on the camshaft which as far ass I know will not fit the astron#1 head
So just plane your head down to get the right compression ratio :)

SO how much extra power wou8ld this give us ?

higher compression gives more torque and fuel economy, supposedly. it's hard to say how much will be gained from shaving the head on our magnas. wen i got mine shaved 10 thou (hardly anything) i got that done with my cam and carb so i couldnt really tell a difference. now that i have stock compression and the same mods back on, i can say that 10 thou did hardly anything.
it will be noticeable though if u try 15 or 20 thou or even more. higher u go, the better quality petrol you will need to run too. but yeah, it's torque u mainly gain not power (kw)

so u havnt seen the news or read a paper in a while im guessing
pretty much govmnt is trying to ban p platers from driving 8's or forced induction cars, few other limits to

Thats ****ed, and it cant work for some people anyway, what about people who live in the country who drive a turbo diesal ute? and need it to do their job or whatever, i dont give a ****, ima drive a turbo car anyway.
It wouldnt cover turbo diesels would it? Because my parent's turbo pajero is such a beast, im sure it can do 0-100 in 15secs :bowrofl:
