didnt really know what to search for here, so will start afresh
i have a 99TH altera, with the double din sized single deck cd playa. I will possibly move to a single din mp3 playback hu at some point, but not any time too soon.
The speakers that are in there at the moment are fine, except for the squeeling thing which i am yet to nail what it is. I wouldnt mind however getting a bit more bass out. I dont wanna go to a sub, cos i dont want to fill the boot with a big box or anything, and i dont want it to be heard too much outside the car. (not asking much) Are there some speakers which i could easily swap with the current set (parcel shelf or doors) that will give me a bit better bass, without compromising the ample sound it has already, without going to an amp/sub setup?
Cheers
an amp will definately give u better quality sound and bass etc...but yeh
In the rears, just drop in better 6x9s, and in the front go 6.5" splits.....or bigger if u want to make your custom pods
Sound deadening your doors seems to give a better midbass respose too, so think about doing that too ;)
Uno..hertz and focal and i think JL make small subs u can shove in a corner of your boot with amazinly small enclosures....just a thought :P

well, not a great deal. Lets say for aguments sake, for rear 6x9's and front 6's, i spose id like to stay under 500 if possible
otherwise ill stick to just fronts or just rears, which ever is best
well...i don't really see the point of spending 500 bucks on a set of splits that will be run off your headunit :P

If you buy carefully 2nd hand you will. I scored a 12" Alpine Sub, 240w Alpine AMP and box to suite, all for $230........and the box is small as(1.1cu/ft)..........I needed it that way to fit a pram.
If you have a budget of $500 you could get similiar to this setup and have enuff for a decent set of coax's for the front?
Just a thought.

ummm..probably not. go second hand on CAA, very helpful. heaps of good stuff always floating around there.
as for brands to steer clear of...umm, the usual, avalanche, tornado, rockwood, boss, super sound, etc etc
then there are brands like sony..some kenwood stuff...
Seaney, I can help you out with the front and rear speakers for under $500 issue once I apply the Magna forums discount to prices.
Email me. :)

Thanks guys. For the moment, i managed to get a good deal for a JVC HU, the touch screen one that Masosi got. So, im gonna see how that improves things without replacing the speakers.
Thanks for all ur help
