Hey,

Ive just replaced my stock headunit with a JVC KD-LHX505 (Specs (http://www.jvc-australia.com/products/_products_sub_group_details.asp?ID=1269)). What a difference!

As I was removing the factory head unit, I found a separate plug into the back of it, with one blue wire. This was separate to the rest of the power and speaker cables, so I have no idea what it was used for?

Can anyone enlighten me on this?

I can get pics if u want.

Ta, MASOSi.

The arial was accounted for in the main connector... so that kinda rules that out.
(Also, I dont have an automatic arial.)

I couldn't work that one out when I changed mine either, the best guess I had was that it was for the alarm led that was on the standard head unit??

thinking now, i should have tested the voltage, just to see what was coming out...

im not taking my dash off again! Did anyone else have major troubles getting the main faceplate back on? (the dash around the aircon dials etc)

no, not really, just if u didn't unscrew your screws completely just make sure the top clips went between the screws and the plastic...i think its just easy for me since my dash has been ripped apart at least 10 times now. lol

as for the mystery wire..illumination probably?

Yes it connects to the steering wheel controls (if so equipped)

Err, 3rd gen's don't have steering mounted radio controls.

I have a suspicion that it's the MUTE line for your phone, if so, it should go down to a plug near the gearstick

ah,

I've just realised that I donot have the ability to dim my dash anymore...
Therefore that wire must be for the illumination, completing the circuit etc.

When i get a chance, I tear it apart again and test the voltage to see whether is varies.
