I have a weird noise problem..

when the engine is cold and i accelerate, whether im in neutral or in gear, theres a sound like there is a small stream of water flowing throw my steering wheel. You can hear it if you put your ear next to the horn..

Ive checked the power steering fluid, its all good. I dont know what else it could be?

No we've had this car since new. No aftermarket fish tank installation has been done.

its not very loud. just a slight streamy noise. like the sound of pouring water from one glass into another.

Maybe it is scrapping as you turn it. try removing all the covering and if you dont find a fish tank hidden in there at least you can see where the noise is comming from. it may have stopped by then, if so its one of the covers scrapping..

Give that ago
Good luck

lol here's some thing i can think of:
- You live under the sea
- You've opened a portal to some water dimension and your car is the gateway
- You're on drugs or drunk :P
- You have water logged ears
- Your car is crying cuz you dont pay it enough attention or spend enough money on it :P

Thats all i can think of right now, :bowrofl:

Have you taken off the wheel yet to have a look? I don't know how hard it is in 2nd Gens but it might just put an end to this mystery.

No i havent, its raining Neil..

Also i dont think ill find anything. The noise will be somewhere where i cant get to. What i really dont understand is why it does it only when i accellerate

So im guessing no one has ever had, or heard of this problem before?...

Could it be water from the heater slushing around ?

I sometimes get this same sound in my TN.

Aha!! :D Problem solved.....

OK, OK, sounds like heater water as posted. It's the only water I can think of that runs into the cabin.

Or aircon? My old VL used to make a similar noise....then it blew a heater hose.

Sure its no from the heater pipes?
Engine coolant/water flowing through gurgling a bit getting the air out of the heater and stuff.
My old Galant did that when it had been sitting for a a while i.e. engine cold

It is an air pocket most likely around the heater tap. Given it is raining in Melb(as usual) it is prob cold (as usual) try turning the heater completly off and then back on again.

It is 99% the heater system, it is a common thing.
