Hello all, I am a complete newbie to both this forum and magnas in general, my previous car was an early model MX6... actually I still have it but I needed to look for a family car. A friend of mine has a 1995 Verada KS EI (I think)... anyway it is in fantastic condition, done about 170,000 km, has been regularly services and is very stock. Anyway he is happy to exchange it with me for a laptop computer (which I stock and sell any way) so effectively it is going to cost me about 2,500 - 3,000 worth of stock to exchange.
I think this seems to be a pretty good deal, and from the information on this forum it seems like the Verada has heaps of potential for modding...
Whatd does everybody think does it seem like a good or fair swap... by the way love this forum

depending on the mechanical condition of the car it sounds like a fair good deal.

A 4cyl exec magna perhaps however Verada's do go for more than this, in some yards Verada' still go for more $$ than the TE's and the glasses guide still lists and ei or xi verada higher than an exec TE

Thanks for the replies... everyone.. yep I know it seems to be a little one sided, in my favour. I asked my mate if he was sure about it and he said it was all cool. I have done lots of freebie computer stuff for him in the past. So I figure he is is squaring up..
Anyway I think I am going to go ahead with it... the Verada sure drives nice... but yep there are plenty of mods I want to look into.

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Use the money your saving to do a manual conversion :P

Sounds like a great deal to me.
If the service history is available check that there are no gaps, the 100,000 service is critical with timing belt and other parts needing to be replaced at that time.
If the timing belt wasn't done then you should have it done soon as they will often last to about 180,000 but rarely much more. If you are uncertain, it should done along with the water pump as they are both due at 200,000.
If the transmission has been serviced properly you are fime but a major service on the trani will allow you to do the manual conversion in your own time.
Cheers
John
