I am installing a pioneer cd player in place of the original cassette deck. I have got it fitted but am unable to find the constant power wire, for the unit to hold its memory. Is this a common problem. Should I run a new wire from the battery terminal, or what else is close to the unit which I could get the constant power from?

Any help would be great!
Thanks

Oh damn i can't remember what wire it was, but there deffinately is one. I just made a little tester to find it.

Buy a little light bulb, connect wires to it and then connect one of the wires to the ground and then while the ignition is off, touch each of the other wires on the harness untill the bulb lights up and thats your memory wire :)

Or just wait for another member that knows wich exact wire it is to tell you :)

Yeh just grab any 12 volt appliance and test the wires... Not too hard...

The fuse box has a few 12v battery
Ignition barrel (where you plug ur key into)
Your std radio's source had one, just check the fuse for it...

Yeah, i didint think so either.

While we are on the subject of 1st gen audio, when i got my Executive, it had a set of front + rear speakers, but all of the wiring was differant, and it had a fader switch on the console, anyone know why? Did the executive model come only in 2 speaker systems or something?

sorry about that... a week or two ago i put a my HU in and it's red/white (even according to my gregories)

maybe it's got something to do with the fact that i have a TM - and not only that... it's leaded!!

ps. i think execitives only had speakers in the dash - i was under the impression that execitive is like a GLX... i could be wrong. i guess someone added a fade knob and put rear speakers.

Cheers,
Bill

No Executive came from the factory with rear speakers. The colour varied between models, which is why I had such a ***** of a job fitting the dash, which came from a leaded Elite.
