As some may remember, a little while ago I was very indecisive about what door trim variations (fabric/colours) i wanted, and i ended up just doing my doors in quite a few different colours and combinations to compare.....Yes some might say i had too much spare time lol

Anyway a couple of weeks ago i went to Spotlight, decided on ONE fabric i liked, and disciplined myself to block out any thoughts i might have about alternatives :P

I am happy with the end result, even tho it took a while...

Have you got any graphics or advice for dismantalling the door :S
I was sent additional leather with my new seat coverings, to be used on door trim. However, seeing as this is my first attempt, i really dont wana f*** it up, or cause any major probs. Is there a graphical instruction list somewhere on the net? Ive managed to find http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~mykal84/ 'removing door panels'. does a mangna TEs doors dissassemble like this?

And i could take it into a shop to be done, but that wont be much fun :)

Dee, do a search of the forums. There have been a number of explanations on how to remove the door trims on cars with and without power windows. Particularly, have a look in the Car Audio part of the forums as I'm fairly sure it would have been covered there under the topics of how to remove the front door speakers.

It's pretty easy once you know where to look for the screws (one in the arm rest and one in the circle bit and one behind the door opening handle) and get the window winders off. It just pulls off then.

HAHAHAHA LOL

Pink fluff, i saw that at spotlight the other day, they had lots of those kind of fabrics, even i think a polkadot one too.

They had a nice fake fur one like i think Tim-E got.
There is a large selection at the Spotlight store in Narre North near fountian gate shopping centre.

Hey guys, welcome to the forums...

To remove 3rd Gen Front door trims:

1. Undo the 3 holding screws :
-Behind (opened) interior door handle.
-In the door aircon vent (while door open)
-Inside the armrest handle. A square plastic cover clips off to reveal it.

2. Window winders (Non-pwr models):
-Using a flat-blade screw driver, preferably covered in cloth, pry off the C-Clip which is under the rubber boot at the base of the winder handle.
-Alternatively get a thin cloth, fold it in half to form a sharp edge, then pull it under the rubber boot, useing a see-saw action until it jags onto the end of the C-Clip & flicks it off.

3. Clips Around Outside of Door:
-Use a cloth covered screw driver (to prevent damaging the vinyl & paint) or even a plastic spatula/eggflip to place between the door trim & the metal body of the door. Gently prize all the clips free.
-Once all clips are free, lift the door trim so the lipped section clears the top of the door & remove.
-For models with power windows & courtesy lights, unclip harnesses before attempting to take away completely.

4. Refitting:
-Follow previous steps in reverse, making sure any harnesses are replaced & the trim is aligned properly before attempting to press the clips home.

____
Yes it's always preferable to install onto MDF spacers, although I had to router mine as my cone was protruding into the door trim at full excursion.

You can fit 6 or 6.5 inch speakers in, for 6.5 you screw into the indents provided. This will make sense when the doors are off.

Solder your wires to your speaker terminals if possible.

Consider applying sound deadener to your doors to increase midbass response and reduce rattles/resonance.

Hope it helps

Peace

Tim

eh, each to their own. I found using a small thin screwdriver was a hell of a lot easier than cloth. Using the screwdriver takes me around 20 seconds to take off a clip.

It was more a quirky point of interest than a "YOU MUST DO IT LIKE THIS" kind of deal. I personally used the small screwdriver back in the day when I had winders. I found it quite funny that Mitsu seem to have a tool for everything yet a trusty old rag is what is called for to get your window winders off
