I bought myself a 2002 manual VRX, sapphire blue yesterday, 19000 km's. although I have only had it for 2 days, I love driving the thing (just wish it was not front wheel drive). Next week I have it booked in to be lowered (40mm), dark tint (30%) and a new stereo (pioneer). But so far very happy with the VRX. I will be attempting to install the stereo myself, as I have done in my last car, a 95 mod MX6. Hope all goes well!

Just wanted to say G'day.

Do you guys every go on cruises?

Cheers,

Berone. ;)

Dont know why you think its horrible?

Any car stereo install is piss easy.. You find the Ignition line and the power line and youre set..

Ill write up a diagram tonight on what the colours mean in the VRX wiring.

G'day, thanx for the welcome.

That would be good bain if you could write up the wiring colours for the vrx...i'll try anything once. Bain, what % is your tint??

I've never done a stereo install that has been easy, its always a bloody fidly job, skinned knuckles etc, but to go for a cruise after you have spent 3 days installing a stereo, its a good feeling...until the fuse blows!

Plus! I have the trust AussieMagna 'how to' guide. For the guys that have installed a stezza in a TJ mod, how long has it taken??

Cheers

In a TH I can probably put one in incomplete (just stereo - no speakers or amps) in about 2 hours!!

TJ aint any different so prolly the same time

Yeah, when the guys did my install, they found that the face would light up and stuff but nothing would work. Initially they thought the HU was a dud but they swapped it for one they had on display. They remembered what it was and had seen it on another make of car. It had been a while since they had done a Magna install.

I just brought an wiring hardnesss adapter for my aftermarket CD players. it then plugs directly to the factory plug.

When I had my Kenwood unit, I got some airopro one from Autobarn.
And Alpine sells mitsui harnesses which fitted my new one.

Hardest job is pulling the car apart, followed by custom mounting stuff like stackers and amps, etc

Remember to disconnect your battery before u start!!!!!

Tint is 20% Metallic film based.

The install for just a headunit would take about 2 - 3 hours.. (if you want it done properly.. (soldered and heatshrinked)

Ill have the diagram up by Saturday night.. (heading out now.. and working Saturday due to server upgrades.. :( )

If your going all out and installing amps, then you may find this helpful in getting to know your new TJ...

Wow.. you removed all that to get your power cable through the firewall?!?!

Youre also running your power cables down the same side the Speaker wiring is running.

There is a grommet towards the drivers side down low you can go through.. Didnt require me to remove or pull anything apart.. And it then allows you to run it down the drivers side of the car where all the power cables usually are running.

hhhmm thats interesting, you went to a lot of trouble getting your cables through. why did u take off ur air filter etc? I ran all my cables across my wheel arch. I then pulled oput one of the firwalls and punched a hole in it, and ran it through that. i then ran the power cable through the dash and down the drivers side to the boot (where the amp is). And all my speaker cables went down the passenger side (to the boot) (where the amp/crossovers etc are) did anyone else do it this way? it works sweet as. the only problem ive had is, i get some slight interferance in the passenegr side tweeter (a high pitched noise) which only happens when the car and stereo are both on. has anyone have the same kinda setup? and does anyone know wat this noise is? cheers

The only thing I found weird about my stereo install was the two left over wires from the original harness, I think they must have connected to the old stereo for the security thing.

It took about three hours for me and a mate to install mine, first one I did, but done right, all the wires soldered and all, love it. :p

Oh and welcome dude, VRX you lucky thang.

I attempted to install my pioneer DEH-P5550MP, sub and amp the other day. I got a little frustrated with it, and ended up getting the good people at autobarn to do it, atleast its in, and there is nothing broken. It soundz awesome...for what it is.

Who has put a K&N panel filter into their magna, especially those who have put them in their VRX...have you noticed any difference? Do you think it is worth the $129?

The hardest thing to do now is look out the rear vision mirror, is just one big 'blurrrr' when the suby is crankin'

I've put a panel filter in my TR...Didnt notice a huge difference..smoothed out the torque curve a bit.

Worth the money as you dont have to replace it

Check out the dyno results on the second page of my website...
It has group list of 10 cars with and without mods.
You will see that the panel and a lukey exhaust added about 12HP.

Wow.. you removed all that to get your power cable through the firewall?!?!

It took me total of about 5 minutes to pull that stuff out, and it wasn't really necessary, just did it to give me a bit more room to play with. I actually pulled it out late one night just to take those photo's then put it back in again.... total time 10 minutes.

Youre also running your power cables down the same side the Speaker wiring is running.

I don't have any speaker wires running down the passenger side of my car, all speaker and signal wires run down the drivers side.

Glad you like the car, but heck the stereo is a major hassle. You have t5o start at the gear shift and pull the whole console out up to the climate control. I had mine done by the guys who did the Ralliart and after seeing the work involved am so glad i did.
