Hi All,
I'm wondering how many KM's you currently have on your 3.0l TF (auto)?

I have 239,000 and am wondering if I should off load it now before major problems develop.

I have only had 1 minor electrical problem with the lights since I bought it. I've also had the front rotors replaced recently.

Mine's approaching 109k. I don't expect any major problems until 200k. After that, I wouldn't expect any car not to develop some problems although I haven't heard of the Magna having too many things going wrong, besides valve stem seals.
Generally speaking, your car should be good for a couple years yet but you'd be better off getting a mechanic's opinion of your particular car. Also, if you want to put it on the market go ahead. If you get a good offer then why not.

Thank you all for your replies.

I've noticed that there is a little bit of power steering fluid leaking from my rack. There's not heaps, but maybe my rack needs attention also. I've also noticed that the steering column tends to rattle a little on rough roads.

Hello All ,
my wife and I have 2 TF's ,1997 Altera Wagon and 1998 Exec Sedan .
Wagon has 129,000 KMS on it and the Sedan 170,000 . I am Hoping to get 300,000+ out of each just to prove to the Holden guys that a "Sh??ty Magna " won't thrash out like a VN-VY 3.8 L . I Love these cars they are so reliable , easy to drive and they go quite hard too , both of ours frequent 6000 RPM easily . Oh yeah I make Holdens at Elizabeth Too !

158...going fine, CV's are clicking..exhaust flex pipe thingy doesn't sound too healthy and some bearings are getting squeaky. Like...if a fan turns on, or you turn air-con on.. *squeak* *squeak**squeak* *squeak**squeak* *squeak**squeak* *squeak* Sometimes its loud sometimes it isnt. Warped brake discs too. besides that, its all good.

Runnin strong at 170K only had the clutch pack it in around the 160K mark, and the throttle sensor needed changing. And i've had this car from brand new. So she's doin well :bowrofl:

I recently sold my TR Exec because at 210k I wondered how much longer it would stay reliable. Having said that, I put 130k on it in 5 years and it remained totally reliable right up to the day I sold it.

86,000 - which means soon I'm up for the timing belt, yeeha ;) but I'll do the rest of the service myself so won't be to bad.

My TE exec auto has done 192300 and the g'box loves to play games  on bad days it can't decide if it wants to go to 3rd or stay in 2nd so i slips and jumps for 2secs or so. But other than that goes very strong plus when i push the car hard that box performs well.

Well I don't have a TF auto, but my TH mechanically is going great at 198,000km's. Got a funny noise with the crankshaft pulley, but I'll be taking it apart anyway when i replace the timing belt soon. Suspension is quite horrid now, but I'm not at all suprised, and it gives me an excuse to put Whiteline bits into it now :) Oh and the clutch is on its way out but that was because of me.

Well my VRX has just hit 85,000kms and is still going super strong :D I do oil / filter changes every 5,000kms and Im hoping to get 300,000kms out of it on its original engine (im never going to sell it). I've about to start a new job where I need to use my car so the kms will start to rack up but Im not too worried about it.

My old man has a 3.0L TE Executive which he bought in 1996. This car is a testimate to mitsubishi's engineering. It is so badly neglected, barely ever serviced and has 234,000kms and its original auto which appears to be fine. He's had no major problems expect CV joints etc. It brings me pain to think about how badly this car is looked after but it is still going well despite the odds, so I cant see why a well looked after V6 can't push 300+

I remember a amc who was a courier in Perth has his TE on 350,000kms. It was starting to develop problems but I think any car would at this age.

Indeed! I'm going to be keeping this car as long as I can :)
If MMAL are giving 5 years powertrain warranty, then I'm even more confident that the engine will keep on going :D
I'm hoping to break the 400,000km mark, I'll tell you what happens in a couple of years time :)
