have an lpg tm magna goes great but needs heaps more go. atm its a bit slugish on lpg as compared to petrol. carby model . Any ideas ?
looking to find largest engine that will fit and still be able to run lpg. want to remove tank and remount lpg tank in place ,possibly t28 turbo, gas research carby or carbies?
im a mechanic so all the work i can do myself.
so many people have told its not worth doing anything to it as they all feel its to old and to far from the current technology but stuff em i love it its a great car
give me some ideas guys lets brainstorm so i can tell the wowsers to **** themselves.
also im in Albury so anyone around drop me a line.

auto or manual?? i would say its an auto but any who
whats the motor tuned for atm cos if its been tuned for petrol you will find that it will run alot crapper on lpg
also the astron motor reacts well to breathing mods eg, bigger better exhaust system bigger carby/filter so worth looking in to that too

Everything that mad_lante has said is correct, as for your T28 turbo, im not sure if its possible to run a turbo on gas, but ill assume it is, what kind of boost would you be looking at running? The astron motor can handle about 10psi on stock internals.

I have a EFI TR with dual fuel and I find it goes better on gas than petrol, more pull, better per litre ecomomy etc. from my experience LPG likes to be setup with long intake runners to get low rpm pull. if you are considering going straight gas then try a tr/s efi manifold and put a gas research mixer in place of the throttle body or put a modern unrestrictive mixer in front of the throttle body for dual fuel.
I get 450km out of 60L of petrol and 550km out if 60 litres of gas in a TR 4cyl auto.
LPG works well with turbos bacause it is already under pressure and easy to inject, you don't have to worry about pressurising float bowls etc and there is no need for most emission controls with straight gas.
if your going to do all this engine work then why not put the LPG tank in a tr/s body so the finished product looks more modern and is worth something?

well i found a part soution to my probs, i bought a sprintex blower today it should run at 5 to 8 pounds. i just have to sort out the possibility of running lean at revs. if i try a tr/s manifold as benau said and the gas research carby and mixer that may very well make for easier fuel feed due to the long intake runners. less leaning out no detonation.
by the way the blower cost me 600 bucks with lines and belts, its a side mount and will maintain the look of a slow sleepy magna that i want. thanx guys
