::: EDIT ::: TM Scanned, follow link http://astronsworld.dyndns.org/astron/ ::: EDIT :::

ok, posted this on another forum, not so much interest. basically im making the original mitsubishi service manual into a pdf. (Adobe Acrobat file) kinda like a software book if ure computer illiterate.
if someone else has done it well congratulations and u can close this window.
but if your interested, reply or post on the poll, if i can find one here. and lemme know
it'd be the TM manual, so only carb fuel system, and if u have a TN-TP the fuel pump is different, no wagon support. but tells u alot bout the engine, wiring and body. plus beats the heck out of any gregories or haynes.

so if u want it show interest or its all mine for my cars laptop.

added a pic of the cover to easily identify it.

ive started doing this to the TP service manual (ive got the TM and TP) i have also got the folder type not the book so its easyer to scan, but i found from reading the TM manual and the TP manual theres a BIG difference, but yer ive stoped scanning it cos i really havnt had time or effort to carry on

ok, well a heads up, the book is like 300 pages. and ive done each page scan at a res of 1536, which i will reduce dependant on the size of the file. but i wanna make it so a good zoom in can be accomplished and zoomed in print outs turn out sweet. so, ill let you know the go with size when ive done it. so far ive done 90 pages. its not easy ill tell ya, lol

If you've got the manual in A4 pages (in a binder, etc) call around to a few print shops and they'll be able to scan it in one hit -- and it'll cost f..k all compared to you're time

any pages you need immediately i have, there just not in the book yet. the books kinda come to a hault. one of those kinda rainy day projects, and so far thats been on my butt playing nintendo. so, lol
i am getting there, slowly, but remember there are alot of pages.
i cant imagine it be cheap to get someone to do it, and sorry, but im not gonna be at a loss for doing that, so if anyone wants to, be my guest. lol
but yeah, i have all the pages scanned, there just still in jpg form. so pm me if you need any immediately.

if you have the pages scaned it should only take 10mins to import in to a PDF then arrange them in the right chapter/bookmarks
also what was the size of the whole lot i would see it being a few 100mb :P cos ive only scaned a chapter or 2 and it already around 100mb

Aströn Boy
28-02-2005, 02:35 PM
well, u cant count mine, coz i have doubled folders with bmp back ups and everything, the entire folder size for me is like 6 gigs. and the jpgs as i do a page im deleting the jpgs, so i cant go off those folder sizes theyd be wrong to.
see the problem is, coz its double sided u have to arrange the pages, so 1 side then the other, thats the time consuming part, if it was in a row, then do batch conversion, auto bookmark/ thumbnail and word recognition and tyour done...... but NO lol

mad lanté
28-02-2005, 03:30 PM
i wasnt gonna worry about it being double sided i was just gonna put each page up in order in a pdf or am i talkin about something different :P
but 6g seeeshhh lol

Aströn Boy

doesnt worry me, my server has more than enough room to cope. all the room in it may as well do something. end result i estimate, once i compact it like 25% will be about, hmmmmm, ummmmm, ehhhh. bloody hell i dunno, 50meg on a guess. i'll just host it on my server and allow a download in the web section for everyone.

Aströn Boy
01-03-2005, 10:28 AM
considering it's non profit, and these manuals are no longer in rotation, plus the fact that all associated work goes uncredited, its hardly infringing on copyright. every second major car manual is posted on the net these days, everything from Hilux and camaros to vw and alfa, if people were charging, then theres a problem.

It's the Mitsu bible.. I've reduced it's size in acrobat to 16Mb, but the quality might have suffered.

try get the images to a mac and then use the pdf format to save it, macs are just the best at that sort of stuff and will retain quality but be smaller than 16mb

I've got Acrobat 6, it's going to compress the same on a pc, it's just a matter of reading it once it's compressed.

There's 170 pages in that PDF.. It's not a small jobbie.

That's the only gen 1 manual I don't have.
I have reminders on ebay for particular items, and the TP manual I have never had flagged, only TN and M *shrug*
I know it does exist, but just not as common (easy to get)

I'll get to scanning the TN one day.

Meanwhile, the TM is of a rather large download, did this one back some years ago.
With todays scanners and compression software I have entire manuals to under 50mb with the same quality, but I really couldn't be bothered re-doing the TM, so it has to simply be a larger download.

Don't hold me to a time, but I'll post up again when the TN is done.

Have PMs turned off.. for some reason from years ago.

Send me an email as I'm not on here much and can't remember which email address this site's linked to.

running 'dot' slow 'at' gmail 'dot' com

modified email due to spam bots, obviously no spaces

And cheeers Timi, I have the whole collection of Haynes and whatever the other one is, but can't legally scan those as they are still in print.
The factory manuals enter a nice grey area.

Speaking of the TP magna, I have a copy of the service manual , so if anyone need information from it, I could help them out.
