View Full Version : Adjusting gains, making speakers better

Is there any way of getting better response out of the front door speakers (without amping them - money's too tight for an amp)? you cant hear much from them (as in low and a bit of mid)... you tend to be able to hear the rear speakers more so than the front. and to compensate, i put the fade more to the front... but they distort easy (i like music loud!!)

the HU is a pioneer 50wx4 mosfet... it handles the 6x9s but these front speakers are down low in the door, so you cant hear them much (except for the tweeters)

also, how can i go about adjusting the gain on my sub's amp? the amp nearly at full, but doesn't seem do much (i've listened to my stereo without the sub going, and it felt like the sub doesn't do much (there is a noticeable difference... but really, the 6x9's seem to make more rattles in the car than what the sub does.)

With adjusting the gain, i am adjusting it with my HU at the setting i want - like loud on, equaliser settings, etc - or am i switching all that off?

HU: Pioneer DEH-P4650MP MP3 Headunit
Front Speakers: Pioneer TS-C1625 splits
Rear Speakers: Pioneer T-6960E 6x9 Speakers
Sub: Pioneer TSW-305C 12" Sub with pioneer box
Amp: sony 222w (only for sub)

Have you got sound deadening? If not, you NEED it.

As for setting gains, click here (http://www.fastfoursforumscarclub.com/temp/fhrxstudios/faq.asp#25). :)

Sound deadening wont help much if your speakers are distorting at low volumes. Do they distort when your headunit is cranked... If so it is not the speakers that are distorting it is the headunit trying to power beyond it's capabilities.

Otherwise if it is the speakers that is the problem you could high pass them using a cap.

Cheap amps are $100. Worth the investment.

it distorts at high volume... but you have to put it loud to beable to hear the front speakers (fade is more at the front than the back)... otherwise you only hear the back (fade is at 0)...

what's a cheap, good amp to get?

or am i better off investing in a bigger amp for my sub (i'm powering it of a 222w sony... and the sub is rated at 400wrms, 800w max) and using the 222w to power the speakers?

i dont have sound deadening... got any links that have clear and simple instructions to do it? and also how will it benefit?
