Hey guys i just got my head unit ////ALPINE cda-9833 and ive got 2 questions.

1. Im getting a lot of static and buzzing on the FM stations and the AM is perfect, what could be the problem.

2. I want to get the low pass high pass filters on but i dont know what levels to put them at so far i have stock speakers, and a sub and amp.
What frequencies should i put the filters on at so that they dont have bass as the sub will do that for me.

What i have atm:
HU ALPINE CDA-9833
Speakers stock
Sub ALIPNE 1242D 12"
MRD-M300 Mono class D V12

Hey

Have you got the dc/dc converter near your other wiring ? because alpine says have it as far away as you can because it can interfere with everything else. I have a 9835, which is the same chassis I believe and have the dc/dc converter just outside the dash panel ie: you can just see it to the left of the central tunnel in the passenger footwell, and my reception is perfect - ohh and it tunes very fast also :P

The 9833 from what it says in the manual dosent have a DC/DC converter.

But i do have that silver Choke coil with fuse, would that affect it in any way?

Im gonna try and get in behind my HU and move the antenna around or out of the way of the other cables. And make sure the antenna is in all the way.

When I had my stock head unit, my interior neons (driver & passenger feet) would cause sh!t reception and static. FYI.

were they wired into the same wires as the h/u was getting its power from? cause thats basically y that happened

nah, i ran a separate cable (+ & -) from the battery, through a fuse etc, thru the firewall and into my console box, then to the neons.

Are your speakers running off of the amp, or just the sub?

Basically what you want to do is set the low pass filter for the sub outputs to fit the response curve of your sub. If it becomes horribly inefficient above 150Hz then set the low pass to filter frequencies above that value. Similarly set the high pass for the speakers to pass frequencies above that which your sub is producing. I'd say give yourself a bit of overlap though. So if your low pass is at 150Hz set your high pass to 130Hz if the speakers will do it. Or whatever. :)

I'm no guru though.. I'm sure the s_tim_ulates and fhrxs of the world can give you a better idea.

The speakers are not running off any amp just off the HU.
The speakers are gonna stay stock for a while still while i save up for them.
The sub is running off the amp.

I wanna adjust all the crossover over the i-Personalise and it would be good to know what FHRX or anyone who is a guru in the audio section to suggest some high pass low pass filters.

I also wanna know since the amp already has the low pass filter on do u still have to have it on the HU and if u do what Frequency should it be at the sub and at the HU.

since you have stock speakers, yeah, don't go driving full range signals into them :P stock speakers don't sound or smell good after putting about 300wrms into them either :P

around 100Hz or higher i reckon is ok...maybe even 120, coz u don't want to have no midbass. umm, yeh, i've never used an alpine h/u before so i don't know how they work..tho i'd like one with blue buttons..

what are u doing listening to radio with your shiney pimp headunit?!

anyways, yeah, if u had the inverters for the neons close to the headunit, might have had some issues.

i also had stock speakers and a sub for a while... trust me, upgrade the fronts at least ASAP

Unfortunately ill have to keep the stocks for at least another month.

And eek ill give u one of 512 button colors on my HU or 2 colors for all the buttons :D

Well radio is good at certain times, i gotta know what the traffic is when i leave uni or have a laugh on the drive to uni in the morning.
But yeah ill will see very little radio, but i would like to hear the radio properly as well.

U set up the high pass low pass filters either on the HU or u can set up all the stuff via the internet, and u can do the time correction on there as well. :D

Nice headunit, but I really don't think you're doing it any justice :doubt: Save up and buy some good front splits in time. In terms of sound quality, this will see the biggest increase, a $2k headunit won't sound good through stock speakers.

Nevertheless, The steps should be 25 Hz, 31.5 Hz, 40 Hz, 50 Hz, 63 Hz, 80 Hz, 100 Hz, 250 Hz, 315 Hz, 400 Hz, and so on for the 9833, (confirm?)

I'd be looking at a highpass of 100Hz for the front stage. Depending how loud you want to play your fronts so your sub doesn't drown them out you can go up to 250Hz (or 315Hz) This will allow your fronts to play with more volume and less distortion as they won't be playing beyond their abilities. This of course comes at the expense of bass up front, which will drive your stage backwards towards the sub, but with stock speakers you can't expect miracles.

Good buy, play around with it according to your tastes. If it's distorting at the volume you like keep raising the high pass frequency. I'm sure all the toys in there will keep you busy for a while.

If you get some quality splits, your fronts will be able to play down to ~50hz.

Peace

Nah still bad reception on Radio, im gonna take it out this weekend when i have some time and im gonna look in there.

Also in the manual it says to check the grounding of the Antenna so ill check that.

Anyone else had any similar problems or have any ideas on what could be the cause of this.
And my AM stations work fine, though i dont know who listens to AM radio.

And i wont be able to get splits just yet, got nooooo money. That and Uni starts in a few weeks.

would having an imported one have anything to do with this? only diff with imports is that they have different radio recieving frequenices or something isn't it?

lol Im sure its the imported radio problem. The frequency increments are different in the states (where I presume this has been sourced)

Therefore you wont be able to solve your problem. And you'll also have tough luck getting repairs as most companies steer clear or charge through the roof.

Anyway such as life...

People buying headunits for $500 off ebay Beware...

But who listens to radio anyway, my aerial is always down

97 verada I gather you are the middle man? where did this come from?

Peace

Lucky for me alpine though of this the increments at what the HU goes at.

HAHAHAHAHA I love ALPINE

The increments i can go in are either by .1 or by .05 so thats rules out the different frequency increments. God ALIPNE are smart, and i hope its just my aerial.
