Hello everyone.
I'm new here and I've got a 1996 TE Magna Executive V6 as a first car which I reckon rocks!
But I've got a few queries about it:
1. Does anyone know the colour name for colour code QD? Needs some touch up.
2. Is it still possible to get a remote control for the central locking and how much? One of the current controls are dead and batteries are irreplaceable.
3. Is it normal for a 'kick' while the car changes gear in the automatic (or perhaps it's jsut my driving style with the pedal, though I kinda doubt it :doubt: )
Thanks

3. Shouldnt be a kick really, check your transfluid and or take it to a transmission mechanic.

Hey newbie, welcome. :D Can offer you some advise on Question # 3.
Does this happen only when the car is cold/coolish? If so, there are probably mechanics out there who will tell you they can fix. B*LL****. I had a TR with the same problem, I had a mits mechanic look at, couldn't fix it. I had a uncle and a nephew (both top grade mechanics) couldn't fix it. The car is still going today with the same trans and the problem hasn't got any worse! (I know because my sister in law now owns it!) If it happens all the time you might want to check your trans fluid.

If you take the paint code to an auto paint shop, they should be able to mix you a bottle of touch up paint. Be aware that metallic paints look slightly different when put on with a brush instead of being sprayed.

for question 3, just take it to a proper transmition place and get a transmition service. That will most likely sort it out, and if it doesnt, they will atleast be able to tell you whats wrong (if anything) with it

Thats good advice. Just ask them to check it.
My old camry auto used to really kick between 1st and 2nd gear changes, the guy at the auto trans place said it was a simple pressure adjustment (not sure what that means) but anyway, fixed it instantly and he charged me nothing. Took me a couple of years to take it in as I thought it was gonna cost me a fortune LOL

for #3, just make sure just before the change of gear you don't ease off a lot on the acceleration, so it doesn't sorta drop into the next gear. Also, a kick might be cause of previous driving styles (?) if someone previously has thrashed it and the auto tranny decides to change gears at 3500RPM, if you drive it like a granny and only rev it to about 2500 or something or less, then it might give a "kick" when changing gears.
Apart from that, get it checked out.

From your avatar, you've got a green one too :D
The green must be able to blend in with the surrouding vegetation.. lol
