Well i can find no insurance company that will insure anything above 7" width (the legal limit) so im tryin to find a company that doesnt ask the size and just the value of the rims.

Im gettin quotes from GIO and JustCars but do u guys know anyone else? this is really goddamn frustrating...oh and just out of interest what kind of insurance do u guys have? and what sort of mods u got?

AAMI, Had no dramas with them, Just told them i got mags worth $1200 and thats it, no questions. But if their illigal width it can void your insurance so just be careful of that.

With NRMA at the mo as the car is stock but getting wheels soon so going with Just cars...
Doin more mods after the rims but NRMA WONT even insure if you have a stereo over the value of 1500 bucks, thats a decent head unit n speakers, not even subs n amps, sooooo retarted i reckon. So make sure you ask all the questions on what you may want to do to it later on...

sweet just got my quote from just cars 1136$ although that isnt entirely correct as i accidently put down rating 4 instead of rating 3 so it should be just under $1000 hopefully, and they asked for a value on my rims but no size so hopefully ill get away with it :pray:

and if i get pulled up cos of em ill stick my stockies back on like wtchme did :shifty:

Hey if its with NRMA then it is no more then a third of the value of the total sum insured for ALL mods combined. So any magna should have no more then $50 of mods! lol lol lol

yeh i just went with JustCars when NRMA was getting *****y about my mods. Was only $1000 a year compared to $750 with NRMA so well worth it. With JustCars you can do any mod as long as its legal, just as long as you tell them. Note however that 8 inch wide wheels are illegal in some states, but not QLD at least :)

Hey Jay, we meet again. lol

My finacee was ringing around for a good quote after AAMIs premium went ballistic for no apparent reason and inadvertently ended up talking to Jay. Within a minute or two, she established that we were both members of AMC. lol

My wheels are 7.5" wide which is barely legal (7 is the max i can go with 16x6 as stock) ,

8.5" wide is an instant claim rejection :confused: I wouldnt even bother with insurance in your case

dude i dunno who (if anyone) would insure your beast :D

mine with pwr sunroof, stereo and 18" mags, RACV said they wouldnt do it AT ALL, everyone else wants $1600+ but im now happy with JustCars, i was with them when that ****ing taxi reversed into me and they took care of it no sweat! :)

Its funny, the first question RACV asked was how wide are the rims? and JustCars just said how much are they worth?

EDIT: im in victoria so NRMA wont insure anyone here

i'm paying $370/yr full comp with NRMA, market value. but if i bump it up to $14000 agreed value my premium would be $570, dunno if its worth it yet.

oh and i'm rating 2 and lost my license twice :D

if any of you are insured with NRMA and have rims wider than 7" and think that their cool about it, think again. if you crash they won't pay!
there is absolutely no use paying for insurance if your not inside their guide lines,may as well be not insured.

i recently went through all the bullsh*t of buying and insuring anything over 7" wide

because i'm paying so little with NRMA i didn't want to go to just cars and pay over $1000/yr for the sake of half an inch

i found a few 18x7 and 19x7 combo's but the tyres(225/45,50) are under 94 load rating, the only way to get the high load rating was to go 235 but thats illegal on a 7" wide rim so your screwed either way

Shannons Insurance...
EVERY single mod insured, legal or non legal it was insured as a "show car" (they have 5 pages of modifications, my policy is 6 pages long, listing all my which means;no more then 20,000km is to be traveled each year.

but does cover me for;
high risk activities such as;
-race track controlled conditions
-stuart highway high speed
-unlimited futher modifications legal or not legal (just fax them a piece of paper stating what was done and its total cost)

it does also cover me for;
-damage caused at/on events displaying my car - bascally, i can extend my 20,000km/year limit if i can prove that i was on the way to a event as such.

doesnt cover me if;
-im drunk or under the infulance of any drugs.

so its a pretty thura policy, but very very very hefty, at $3995 a year TILL im 25 :(

i held this policy for a year, only expired last month, 4grand i just cant afford this very moment :(

i was "only" 19 when i started the policy, i "only" turn 25 this year :cry:

the dude says, when you turn 25, expect only to pay around 1000$ a year :(

(they have a cool "allowance" bascally, i can put my policy on "hold" - this is for say, if my car is off the road for 6months getting work done to it, i dont pay anything, but im not insured for anything eiter :S - this is what ive done, its on hold.. then ill do it again for a few months, then put it back on hold again. then closer to 25 ill just pay the 4grand till it drops...hopefully :doubt:

Its not the sort of 3rd party that u get from insurance companies though.

Registration gives u CTP (compulsory third party) which, dont quote me, but im pretty sure is meant to cover medical expenses, damage to public property, etc...

Whereas insurance companies offer Extended Third Party which, again dont quote me, only covers damage to the other person's car.
