Sound deadening is basically filling up the empty spaces inbetween doors and boot lining etc. Or lining it with sound reflecting material..

What it does is keep the sound Inside the car so that it does not travel through the car and you lose certain sound frequencies.

It is also a good idea to have to reduce car rattles. So you can hear the music and not your door rattleing because its about to fall off from the woofers in the boot.

thats it in a nutshell

yeah, that..stops stuff from resonating, hence giving u better response, clarity and volume. Makes your panels heavier, so they vibrate less basically

SOUND DEADENING = GOOD = GET IT

In addition.

Sound deadeners aim to increase the weight of a panel. This increases their resonant frequency making them less prone to rattles (also give your doors a nice thud when you close them).

These are different to acoustic tiles and so forth which aim to reduce reflection back at the speaker/woofer which leads to cancellation issues.

Most sound deadeners are tar based and come in sheets. Others can also include paint. But the most effective is definetly the sheets.

Paint comes in handy for behind door trims.

Here's one we prepared earlier. :P

When sound deadening it is also beneficial to fill any gaping service holes with MDF to create an enclosure which doesnt leak. This leads to better midbass response and stops waves from the front of the speaker/woofer affecting waves from the rear of the speaker/woofer which leads to cancellation. Whilst it is near impossible to fully enclose an entire door, it definetly helps.

Eek I concur... Even if you do one layer of deadening on your doors spread out it is definetly worth the money. A two door pack will cost around $140. Also add weight to lock rods etc by wrapping them in duct tape.

Peace

Tim
