No matter how much i clean my mags, black greasy gunk keep spilling across onto them, making em dirty very quickly. now originally i thought it was broken cv boots, cause my cvs were stuffed and i got them replaced.

but still have the same problem happening, friend suggested it could be crap from the break pads as i recently changed them, not 2 sure bout that though. What it could be i guess is left over grease from the leaking boots that spilt on the inside of the rim, n when it heats up as wheel spins it may go runny? hehehe

really i have no idea whats doing this, but im gonna take the rims off and give them a good clean, anyone else have any idea what causes this?

Well your rims will never get as dirty as my WHITE rims.

But the grease could be from either road, cv-boot, or any other things.

Since i got my rims 1 week they got washed twice, which i think is a few already and ill be getting them washed each week, Also they look much nicer when they are clean.

Also use a high pressure hose to clean up everything behind the rims.

Also are there any pads that leave no dust and fit in the 3rd gens with stock breaks, as i know u can get the ebc green stuff pads but for only AWD brakes.

Ive actually seen this happen to new cars, when the brake pads are being worn in the rims get really dirty, allthough it might be some oil actually leaking from the engine?

cheers

Couple of things,

Tyre black can do it (the spray on stuff like Eagle F1 , Armorall etc etc)

Depending on the type of brake pads you can get alot of brakedust - This is what i think is your cause, find out what pads were put in your car.. I dont get any brakedust at all (bendix ultimates)

Or as Ben said CV boot could be split.. Easy way to tell is drive it up onto a gutter, stick your noggin underneath, run your hand along the booty and check for splits or grease.

Unless it's a typo, you don't need to worry about your CV's if your rear rims are getting dirty :D

If you're using silicone based tyre black and don't wipe EVERY SPEC OF EXCESS OFF and THEN allow it to dry, you will see these black greasy spots all over your mags and along the lower panels of the car. Sux.
