ok guys im finally going to get a new exhaust on my car but i got quotes today and they seem pretty high for just the exhaust system with 2.5" from the cat back with chrome dump tip. I got quote $417 for the redback system, and $450 for the magnaflow system. Can i get an idea of what you guys paid for your exhausts and what you recommend as i was only looking at spending around the $300 mark.
thanks

dont worry about piping unless you get it all done, just get the muffler put on, magnaflow mufflers look really nice
you wont gain performance from replacing the piping from the cat back, you still have a stock cat, flex piece and headers. and you may end up with a lancer exhaust note because you'll be taking the mid muffler out which cuts alot of that down

the only thing with the magna flow exhaust is the guy didnt think he could do a dual dump pipe on it which is what im after but ill try and see if there is anyone else here that does them. I would rather the whole system as its a better sound from what iv heard.
The redback guy said he would do the dual dump pipe for no extra and he could do it straight away if i wanted it, i was tempted to say ok ill drive it in but i thought i better check prices first

yeh the dual dump pipe will fit he just didnt think the magnaflow came with one and he wouldnt do it if it didnt.
And the other guys who quoted me on the redback system tried to tell me magnaflow wasnt a brand. And started talking about how good redback was and no one is better and on and on.

The redback bolt on system includes a muffler/resonator in the centre section after the cat.

Are you saying that replacing the muffler on a stock magna won't result in any performance improvements?

I put a 2.5" Lukey muffler (cheap one) with 2.5" Mandrell cat back piping (stock piping reduces to about 2.25" over rear suspension sevtion) on my TF and while it does get droney in higher gears, it never buzzes or sounds tinny. Over 2.5-3 grand it growls  .

i went to get my mandrel bent 2.5" with hi flow cat system put on last week got qouted $390 with a TRR canon but i ran out of money and i had a cannon in the garage so i got it fitted to the stock piping and i can tell a little bit of performance and it is loud as F$%K it doesnt have a tinny sound to it even at 7000rpm

I got quoted $350 for a custom job. 2.5inch from cat, resonator, straight through muffler (prolly a lukey or something generic) and some sort of tip. Although tips range in price a bit so total price may be a bit higher depending on that.
Oh and they said $290 without resonator but they didn't recommend it.
