hey folks.
i'de like to know more about the 4g64 motors. from what i see on the internet there's not much info on them out there.

i've got a 4g64 ( g4cs) hyundai sonata 89 model, and the motor's getting tired. i ask here because the magna's te / tf use a 4g64 motor, so i would be really interested to know what the differences are. as far as i can gather the 4g64 you guys have is a 16valve and mine is a 4 valve. that's about all i know so far. and also that your's is alot newer / more powerful.
i'm curious to know how hard it would be to put one of those ( magna 4g64) motor's in the sonata, and what would be required to do it. would go much better than this one does anyway.

a couple of questions to start things rolling:

what differences are there in the block?
what side is the gearbox on? drivers side or passengers?
what injection system is on the magna's?

i really like driving this sonata, it's so much better than my vl commodore, but yea, the motor's pretty sad looking.

thanks fellas.

Well I knew a guy who had a 94 sonata, and I believe theres not much in the two engines - same counter balance shaft setups etc, I think he could use mitsi parts(they were cheaper than hyundai). But as far as specific details go, I canna really help :/

I reckon your best bet would be to source a haynes or a gregories manual for both cars and read through them quite thoroughly, that way you can see straight away what the differences are.

I doubt that many people here would be able to help you a lot as we have magna's not sonata's. Sorry. But I like where your going with it, I reckon a new(ish) 3.5L 6g74 in a sonata would be something to be reckoned with hehe. Good luck. :D
