Ive just come home tonight from a cruize around south melb with some of the guys it was great fun :)
But anyways what is bothering me is that, me and my mate were doing lil drags up and down the the highway when, R 33 decided to jion in, it was turboed as i could hear that spooling hissing noise, but anyays, we are at the liights and we take off, and expecting to be slaughtered by this skyline, but didnt, the magna beat it...???? is this right?? can this happen,Im pretty sure he was going pretty hard at it,
I think it was automatic, but ive always been under the impression skylines are way up there 100s and 100s of killowats and so on? could it just been a **** skyline or what
My mate at work also has a 33 but done up a bit and manual, and i seem to just keep up with it...
confused

were the stickers not at right angles to the car? haha. cos if they arnt straight - that affects proformance lol
well done mate anyway

stock skylines are not really that impressive. the amazing thing about them is their tuneability. all you need is around $4-5g's and you've got a 11-12sec monster. even the gearbox is good for up to 1000hp without any strenghtening. (and incidentally, the auto ones are faster than the manual ones)

dont get your hopes up mate, he probably had no right leg, had to do it all with his left leg.
thats the only way a non-turbo magna will beat a turbo skyline....... :)

modability comes down to the turbo, NA build ups are for rally or regulated classes, they never go as fast as a supercharged car. skylines handle amazingly with suspention mods!

i strongly believe that it'd be a good race to about 80 or so, on this private highway i have out the back i cruised past a gts-t, it was modded he got cut and wanted some, 1 lane free on my backyard highway so i let him go first plus he was obviously gonna win. From about 120 i was even through to about 150 top of thrid to 4th he left me though. i think bit of n/a tuning i could of had this one easily, but id rather turbo.
Oh and i had a full drum kit with air con blazing and all my clothes, but i dont think it'd matter at this speed, but the drum kit was funny...

nah, skyline has more power, torque and is a rwd with less weight. equal ability would see the magna chopped from the line onwards

just because it has a turbo doesnt mean that its fast! a bog stock 33 is not quite the 2fast 2furious racer you (or the rest of the fully sik muzza brigade) think it is. in fact its quite ordinary.

Any body got the Specs on a R33 GTS or GTS-t? how they compare to The 3.0 Magna?

and a magna isn't :doubt: ive been in a few 33's and driven a few 32's and mods or no mods they still run 14's stock

what turbo charade is saying. Stock i think they have around 150kw atw. Exhaust gives them extra 20kw, the one i went along with did not impress i would have liked to be in a 3.5L manual but i still think the skyline would have it. Off the line i still believe the magna would be a good go, drivetrain losses, extra traction due to weight over wheels in fwd... what model is 4myego's magna??
The skyline is nissans best selling "go" car. Our magnas are designed for family transport.

extra traction due to weight over wheels in fwd...
Sorry to say mate but it doesnt work like that lol

Yer, cant say KX is wrong...
when accellerating forward weight shifts backwards - this is why high powered rwd cars lift the front end when they accellerate (well, not entirely, but gives you an idea)
on a rwd car when accellerating, the weight shifts the the rear axles, helping in traction.
given two identical cars same power and same weight to power ratio's same everthing, the rwd car will eat a fwd off the line dispite the power difference.
of course if you can controll a proper fwd launch, then a really high powered car can struggle to keep up..
this theory also applies;
"the car with the most hp isnt always the quickest" - or look it it like if you have a power to weight ratio perfect for the car, where a car can accelerate at a rate where there isnt enought power to spin the wheels, but has enought power to keep the wheels moving on the exact point of grip (tyre specific) then this car would be one hell of a drag warrior.

true to booya, other dude dont laugh at me u tool. How would u guys reckon the different gen magnas would go from start. I think mines fairly quick off the mark and faster than other similar powered rwd even though they are heavier....

my friend has a close to stock R33 GTST manual, just a kakimoto zorst system and apexi pod.
off the line, that thing is definitely quicker than my 3L V6 auto, i can feel the rush straight from idle... but in the magna, i can only feel a tiny tiny bit of it after at least 4k rpm.... dunno why ppl still say lines got crapper take off than the magna??

yer, i think tho in this case its the theory that a not so high powered car gets a good take off, because its not powerful enought to just bag the wheels from idle, yet, its got enought to get the car rolling quickly.

on our ks verada its the same with foot brake on and throttle some control only lets it rev to about 2700 which is a pretty good take off position but auto gearing is much lower, u might change to second at 70 in ur auto. In my manual its alot faster from stand still but still wouldnt beat the skyline in takeoff...

Well if that is the case then the last two i went up against just must be crap drivers than?

yes and were they auto??? in the magna the manual is about a second faster down the quater, probably abit less, .7s??
