Just wondering if the Crank, Rods and pistons from a 3.8 pajero will fit into a magna block, be it origannly a 3.0 or 3.5 as it would be interesting as a conversion, also what is the difference in bore and stroke dimensions?

don't know about the 3.8 but the 3.5L pajero has bore 93mm and stroke 85.8mm. I've personally never heard of the 3.8L pajero but i wouldnt really have a clue.

the 3Lv6 magna, b; 91.1mm, s; 76mm.

Might be useful in custom stroker kit or bored engine?? otherwise no they won't fit.

all current model pajeros (MY04) with a V6 are now 3.8, still a sohc 24 valve motor essentially still the same block as early mitsubishi V6's (aside from mounting location boints) there fore going by the bore and stroke dimensions you supplied the block of say a 3.5 would only need to be bored a couple of thou and the rods should fit straight in.

true i believe the 6g74 is identical to the magna one. I can see where your going but what i don't know is if the pajero parts would be up to scratch in such an upgrade, i assume yes...

true i believe the 6g74 is identical to the magna one. The 6g74 is the magna motor from TH's-TL's,even some rare TF's had them:)

But internally all the blocks should be the same aside from bore dimension all the bearing journals should be identical, but are the water jackets and oil galleries in the same places if so that means the cylinder heads should also be interchangeable alowing more options when it comes to engine building time.

The pistons are flat top pistons for more torque if I remember rightly.

Plus you'd have to change the intake plenum to the FWD one

just make sure u start with a 3.5 6G74 and not a 3.0 6G72, the 3.0 is a shorter block.

I believe the new Magna's(Galant) will be equiped with a 3.8, they are in the states if you do that, go to and check out Mitsubishi USA (http://www.mitsubishimotors.com) and look at the new eclipse(if you haven't already seen them), they are equiped with a Mivec 3.8 with like 260-270 horsepower.
