Hey
Last week (Mon) i got mt timing belt replaced.
The mech said that it was having and idling issue but should fix itself.
It did but 4 some reason not fully it aint stallin all the time but as i pull into me drive way it does, or a car park etc.
This is BULL SH*5^T and is really pissing me off.
Just b4 i take it back on mon does anyone know of a problem or had one like this b4
Thanx

Turn your idle control Screw up a little that will let more air in to the TB and thus no stalling as the RPM will be a lil higher when idleing

For curiosity sake whats ur RPM at Idle ???

hey dude what type of induction do you have eg carby or fuel inject?
did they play with timing or only the timing chain?
whats your air filter arrangement like dirty or clean
how does the car run above around 2500 rpm and under load say going up a steep hill?
what were you doing when the vehicle stalled as in hard breaking or were you just sitting at lights?
increasing the rpm wont do anything but wash over the problem till it gets worse and you have to do it again
as a mechanic i would like to have as much info as i can so that diagnosing the problem is much easier so have as much on call as u can for your mech and let him know that your not happy with a car that has intermittant problems when by all rights a timing chain change should not effect any induction attributes at all. fuel problems dont just fix themselves up . there is always a cause always

Thanx dude,
i actually took it back to the mech on mon. It was stalling whilst braking like when pullin up and ****
the rpm idle was way 2 low and he adjusted some **** and sprayed some smelly cleanin **** and it seams to be workin however upon start up it rev almost 1700 then returns to normal idle he said it may be some idle piece of shi that costs 160 top replace and he also said he's replaced a few in the magna's
Thanx Mate

It's your IDLE SPEED CONTROLLER (ISC) motor thats rooted you dont really need it mine broke when i owned my old TS and yeah the idle was a bit funny bit like i said just turn the screw up a Little and you will notice a better idle thats what i did worked a treat

you actually do need it and it's worth replacing.

Well IMO i had my TS for 2 years and it died (the ISC) at about 9 months - 10 months after i got the car and i didnt notice anything different no diff in fuel consumption or anything like that but of course Idle was a bit diff but i couldnt justify spending nearly 200 bux on something that controls the idle speed even my mechanic agreed with me so yer. :doubt:

but thats me you might be different of course

What happened when you had A/C on?

The job of that part is to control the idle and it's changes. The BISS you're talking about will only do the base idle (Basic Idle Speed Screw). When you turn A/C on, the idle will drop and you'll constantly stall.

Also just upping the base idle is a stupid thing to do, you're wasting petrol and costing yourself more money. I hardly believe for a second you had no difference in economy, that's absolute rubbish. You'd have to up your idle to about 1000-1200 rpm to make sure that when you turned the A/C on you didnt stall. And if you were idling at that all the time you'd NOTICE a degradation in economy. Your mechanic is a fool

Replace the part, it's a simple job, you can get the part and just do it yourself. It's a plug and a few screws.

well im not going to get into a argument with you about it i will just let u know what happened with me

with aircon on it ran very low at idle yes BUT not once has it ever stalled from this sort or issue and my idle was set no higher that 1k it usually hovered around 700 - 900 you can belive what you want to.

and NO my mechanic is not a fool thank you very f^cking much  as if you would pay such a price for such a small blo0dy item. but like i said in my last post "but thats me you might be different of course"

i have given my opinion and you have given yours so thats fine and lets get over it :)

Talk to ya round :)

Your mechanic is still a fool, and I dont believe you for a second.

And as if you'd pay such a price for a small item...

How much do we pay for CPU's? How much do we pay for mobile phones? Not too much smaller than an ISC. Size is not indicative of cost.

Absolute bodgy stupid fix.

Fix it properly and fix it once.

LOL no mate, it's actually called common sense.

You replace broken parts. Any mechanic that says that the ISC is not needed is an idiot.

And stop playing the opinion card, that's just stupid. Noone's stopping you from talking
