Hey guys, just got myself a new uhf 2way radio, and i was told that it was possible to get a glass-mounted (still rather tiny) antenna. Regardless of their size, it can apparently be as effective as the heavy duty, car mounted antennas. To the point, does anyone know a particlar brand or model that fits a similar description to the one i just mentioned?

ive been looking around, and am finding it hard to find any glass mounted antenna full stop, so any help would be much appreciated.

I used to use of these antenna's and to sum it up they are crap. Don't waste your hard earned cash on one of these. The performance is not even as close as a hard wired antenna.

You are better off installing a boot mount and an elevated feed antenna. But you haven't told us exactley which frequency band the radio is in? There are many!

I have a galss mount antenna for my CB (a GME 3200). It's a 4.5dB gain antenna also made by GME. Doing radio checks I had range of around 15km line of sight.

With my 6DB car mounted antenna I get around 30km line of sight.

I find the low gain antenna better in the city and when going through the hills. THe 6DB better when on the open plains.
