Keep the shift light, piss the tacho off, you already have a stock tacho, why do you need another one?

As for attracting cops, yes, tachos do attract cops....

EDIT: Just looked at your profile mate, you have an auto, why do you need a tacho and shift light at all??

hows about we give some support, and just answer the question :)

if he wants a shift lite, let him have one...

hey bloke, your best bet is mounting it in the corner of the A pillar and the dash..

:)

wasnt that hard guys, was it :)

good call Ben, his question didnt say every1 tell me that tachos suck, especially on autos

the A piller is the easiest, if u have a 3rd gen, it should just unclip, go from the top down ( if the a piller is the plastic strip thinggy next to the front windscreen :) )

once you have it out, the easiest thing is to test where u wnt it, drill and hole in the plastic a piller mount thinggy...and screw it on, dont screw it on excessivly tight, as the plastic will change shape, and you wont be able to get it back into place.

hope this helps

So you can keep your eyes on the road instead of the tacho during the traffic light grand prix!

On another note - has anyone looked inside at the build quality of the tachos whose manufacturers name begins with A? The soldering is abyssmal, had one in to fix as a foreign order, (peak hold died) and ended up retouching just about every joint...

Cheers

You're such a kill joy ;)

I agree with what you're saying though.. these days I can accellerate to a given speed limit completely subconsciously without looking at the speedo just by the sound of the engine. I am so clever.

on a slightly related note,

anyone know where i can get a small shift light ? i too sometimes enter into the so called traffic light grand prix, and it would be good to have it flick on at about 5500rpm to i can change a little after that, also, at the drags it would be good to even set it to 3000-3500 rpm, so u can focus on the tree instead of the tacho lol

ps. they r cool an r a worthy addition to any fwd family sedan lol

Not sure what your budget is, but have a look at this thing (http://www.autospeed.com/cgi-bin/browse.cgi?product=2005910001&). There are a couple of others in the autospeed shop too. Just search for shift light.

but to all you guys who think tachos are a waste off time!

you just wish you had the money to spend and also to the same guys if you are scared of police looking at your car. just dont bother modding your car and get off the forums because i think you are just little girls. maybe you can go put some fully sick stickers on your car or sumthing and just keep the hub caps on. soft cocks.

i dont see what the big deal with tachos is, i have an autometer monster tach hanging off my a pillar, allong with a couple other gauges, cops dont bother me.

my car is loud, low, noisy, has 18's etc and i never get pulled up and im usually out cruising town most nights, and i hardly go easy on it usually you hear my car comming a mile away.

i have only ever had a couple of fines, 1 was for undue noise when my car was a standard auto and i came arround a corner a little quick, and i think i had one for blue undercar neons (this was a while back when they were cool) and 1 for the 10.4in touchscreen that is attatched to the center of the dash ( i didnt have it hooked to the handbrake, oops  )

so bro, if you want a dirty great monster tach, get one, and shift lights are heaps of fun. :D

Not true.

Supraforums is full of sarcastic, know-it-all, 'elite' ****heads. This forum is extremely good compared to others I have frequented.

But its true what you say, you should've gotten an answer to your question, not a thread full of other peoples opinions on monster tachos.

Just put it on the A-pillar, it's a bit 'commo-racer-style', but it works, and thats where I had mine before I sold it.

I've got to agree, on the most part, the people on this forum are extremely supportive, friendly and endeavour to answer any question, no matter how obvious or silly it is, or how many times it's been asked before. :P

A lot of other forums I've been on flame people that ask basic questions, or abvious ones and are not very supportive of their members. A little too elitest for my tastes.

The tacho i got off a mate for cheap, and i wanted the shift light, plus the new tach is easier to see. it adds a bit of rice to the car but **** happens, also adds to the wow factor when people look in the car at all the gadgets and stuff in there

no problem bro,

its kinda sad that whatever ya do these days someone is gunna winge and complain about it. (im used to this sorta crap, i deal with it on a daily basis) its especially bad when it comes to car mods, no matter what it is someone will say "why would you bother" etc

magna drivers get enough of that from others let alone fighting amoungs ourselves.
