Hey team,

I've noticed that the intersection of the exhaust from the two banks intersect at right angles (a "T" section). Surely this is a crap design!
I can't afford headers yet (married, two kids, you know how it goes) but does anybody know if it would do any good getting the junction replaced with a more free flowing setup. The headers will come eventually but in the meantime - "small steps".

Cheers

Your alot better off just saving your money for the headers, and make it one big step instead of a couple of small step. It will save mucking around, and save a bit of money also, which in turn means you'll get your headers faster anyway. And I mean, whats the point of spending money on part of your exhaust which is just going to be pulled off the car to make way for better parts before too long anyway.

Pacemaker extractors (definitely the way to go IMHO) will set you back approx $550 installed. Just keep saving your dosh until you've got enough, you'll be happy with the gains.

Well, you get that merge pipe when you get headers. The cost of getting that part custom made and fitted is going to cost almost as much as a set of Pacemakers.

You're right though, that part doesn't help.

save up for 3 into 1 and 3 into 1 dual exhaust :) run both down each side of car

vroom!

Has anyone tried that. How well does it run like this? And I'm guessing that a balance pipe would be a must.

Im not even sure of thugdout was serious, mainly cos of the 'vroom' he threw in there at the end. Something like that setup would not be cheap if it is even doable. i say go for some pacemakers, straight up.

well i was kinda serious and kinda not, only seen it done on a few oldschool v8's i can understand this would be expensive excersise to perform and i wouldnt kno about the gains to be had with it over a single pipe setup and if it would even fit down the left side of the magna and if u really want dual tips then just split it at the rear flang and whack another muffler on, looks the same :P

I don't think you'd get bugger all from having a twin system on a v6, the firing intervals mean the extractors need to be stepped for effective scavenging, so 3 into 2 into 1 rather than 3 into 1. But like thedugout said, if you want twins just split it at the back and have two mufflers :P
