1) Replace all 4 engine mounts with new stock items?
2) Replace Steering rack boot?
3) Replace auto gearbox fluid with latest release Mitsubishi item?
I went to a workshop (recommended by AMC) and they say:
1) + 2) = $750
3) = $150
This sounds *way* too much to me. How much would you pay for these jobs? Maybe you can recommend other places for me to get the same job done for less?

the engine mounts are expensive, very expensive at well over $100 each aftermarket, The only cheap option is to get secondhand mounts or aftermarket inserts and have them pressed in and their still around $60 each plus labour to press.
Rack boots are cheap but time consuming to fit and a wheel alignment should be done after their fitted because the tie rod end is usually removed to fit them.
$150 for an auto flush with premuim fluid sounds fair, price the fluid seperately.
if this quote is for all genuine parts and qualified mechanics labour and a front wheel alignment is included, then although it's expensive I think it's a reasonably fair price.

These jobs include parts and labour obviously.
What do you mean by pricing the auto fluid separately?
What about the rest of you? Would like to hear your opinions about this as well. Don't want to spend more than I have to!

to see if your bing ripped off, price all parts needed yourself and then add on how much per hour they would be working for, prob $60 per hoour, then see what the difference is. Or try another place and see what they quote you.

Find out what the fluid is worth per litre or in a 4 litre bottle and then work out how much is needed to do the job. Then you will know how much the labour really is on the auto service.
There will be a filter and gasket kit used if they remove the sump pan and don't just drain it through the bungs.

Well I suppose I will have to do some research then.
Chances are I won't have the time, so I will probably just go ahead with it. Maybe negotiate to get the whole lot done for $800 including wheel alignment. I can only try...
Surely someone would've replaced the above before and can quote us their prices...?

hey there.
my mate who looks after my car in Adelaide has given me a quote for the three remaining engine mounts, the front has been done, and replacing the tappets and checking the oil pump and getting the plunger etc fixed for about a grand...
so the engine mounts easily would get up near the 600 buck mark. apparantly the back one is pain to put in.. eg a bit of work. and its the dearest ive been told..
so your quote of 750 isnt too bad.

Learnt from another source that aftermarket mounts start from around $75 a pop...which means $440 or so total including labour. But this is a part I'd want to stick with a factory item for longevity...$750 still seems a fair bit, though. Maybe I am just stingy :P

Went the cheap route and simply replaced the pads and machined the discs all round for $240.
The brake pads are branded "Hong Sung Gold". Apparently all mechanics use them. They are OE on all Korean makes. Web site is www.hsbrake.com
They give a bit more dust than my previous set, but that's my only complaint.
Braking is now almost noiseless even during hard stops. They are also very heat resistant, and pulls strongly to a stop every time (where my old pads would just lose the plot and even lock the wheels at the last 10 metres or so).
