As the title suggests my question has to do with cooling the engine more efficently, i have done work on the radiator(new thermo stat, fan fixed) cars just been services etc but im wondering if anyone has any ideas on getting something added to cool the engine quicker ?????????????????
On a 30ish degree day the engine jumps up to just just past half way(the quater above the half) and its annoying?
its a magna TR 92 model auto

if your car was running cooler than that before then it means that your old thermostat was leaking so it was running cooler than it should. it should run about halfway in the temp gauge. the other possibility is the the new thermostat isn't quite performing properly and isn't opening early enough.
does your car have aircon? it could also be that there is lots of leaves and crap stuck between the aircon radiator and the engine radiator, as the aircon one sits in front of the engine radiator. my last car had heaps of leaves and crap in there and it was always garaged or just parked out in the open, not under trees.

It 'usually' runs at half way but on warmer days it goes up to the quater before the top and all of the engine is very hot
but on cooler days its runs perfectly, the car has aircon but i barely use it...
I'll have to check the leaves problem - cars parked under a tree/outside.
Does anyone know of any devices that you could add to the cooling system to make it run better ?

Besides a bigger radiator, not much. Your cooling system is more then capable of cooling your engine, and keeping it at optimum operating temperature (The temps between when your thermostat opens/closes). If your cooling system isnt working properly it could be due to a number of things, such as blocked radiator, failing water pump, radiator fins bent or covered, blocked water jackets running through the block, faulty thermostat (busted ass, or wrong open/close temps), coolant too concentrated with anti-freeze.
Before you go 'adding stuff on' to try cool your car down better try these things, flush your cooling system (radiator, block) with a garden hose, be sure to flush the radiator in the opposite direction to which the water normally flows through it, back flush it, normally from the bottom up. Make sure you have the correct thermostat, visually check your water pump also if need be, and be sure to refill your cooling system with the right concentration of de-mineralised water and anti-freeze. As far as I know, most anti-freeze isnt any where near as good as transfering heat as water is, this is why car manufacturers normally recomened a 33%, some times 50% anti-freeze and water mixture. The anti-freeze is there to prevent corrosion, raise the boiling point, and lower the freezing point of the water, the water is what transfers the heat and cools your engine, as a rough guide, make sure theres more demineralised water in there then anti-freeze. Also check your temp gauge sender and connection, make sure its on properly and connection is clean.
If you do all this and you are still having temp problems, then take it to natrad or some other reputable radiator shop, and they'll be able to let you know whats happening.
