Hi all!

This is my first post, I came across this site when looking for reviews for magnas!
Hopefully someone can help me...

Im looking at buying a 1999 TH Sports with 70,500ks and towbar. White in immaculate condition. $13500

What are some things to look for and can anyone tell me anything usefull about magnas that I should know as I have never owned one before (or any FWD for that matter)... My only car has been a R31 Skyline Silhouette.

Thanks heaps
Pete

transmission if its automatic (magna transmissions are very high tech but a little fragile if driven hard), cv joints being fwd and obviously things like suspension etc like any other car.

Best thing to do, is to get someone from RACQ or whateva, to come out and have a look at the car, there professionals, and will tell you if anythings wrong with the car, and what its really worth.

Welcome to AMC Mate,

Well @ 70K for a 99TH ideally there shouldn't be an thing wrong mechanically or physically.

But Damn that are some low km.

Check the service history and may be get it RACV checked.

Well I went and took it for a drive last night...
Its 5sp manual!! :D
Never having driven a magna or even been in a magna before I was expecting it to roll like a boat...
I have an R31 Silhouette with Monroe GT gas shocks and King springs, and the Magna left it for dead as far as handling and body roll. It felt heavier, but thats understandable.
Interior was awesome! I love all the Sports extras, like sweet seats, white dials etcetc. Everything felt solid and well made.
Body was pretty much immaculate, couple carpark scratches.
Tested the CV joints - perfect.
HEAPS of get up and go...
Very quite and smoooooth to drive.
There was a fresh oil leak in a main seal under the engine, but he is going to get that fixed and hopefully gonna do the timing belt as well (may as well, only 25000 to go before it needs it anyway).

So my conclusion from someone who has always hated magnas as the proverbial family boat... I walked away stunned. Very very impressed! Equivalent Holdens and Fords dont compare (not that I ever liked either of them anyway!! :P ) Mum and Dad have a BA, and its nothing compared in features and handling. I will just have to get used to FWD and forget RWD with LSD... Im less likely to get my car impounded if I dont have it anyway!

So im off to the bank to get some dough!
Thanks for all the advise and welcome guys!! :D
