Hi great site, glad i found it. I have been given a TP s/w fuel injected auto. Body and all parts good except for motor My questions? :D
I am getting a carby motor and bolting on the efi gear from my stuffed motor any tips or problems i may have.

Auto. Its been sitting for awhile and the fluid looks sad. Im going to change it. i have read forums stating you can only use Mitsubishi fluid is this correct? is there any after market stuff. also when i drain the tranny can you drian the torque converter as well. Also is there any tricks to fill the box as it has a oil cooler and im not sure if the motor has to be running to circulate the fluid through the cooler and radiator. I have used the search button but there is so much info that im going blind.

last question what will happen if i remove / mod the balance shafts as per a forum. will it imporve anything or should i leave well enough alone.

Bazz :bowrofl:

For your motor, you might wanna look at this. This may answer your question: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14185

For your trans, when I got my trans reconditioned, they said you can put the normal dextron stuff - and that's what they put in there... my gear changes are nice and smooth usually.

I have heard from many people that the transmissions prefer the correct fluid - much better gear changes - they dont tend to slip out of gear willy nilly... your better off trying to find the correct fluid - seeing as you dont know what condition your auto is.

anyways, hope this helps

Both BP and Castrol produce alternative oils for the TR transmission. They are: BP Autran MM or Castrol TQ-M SP. The Castrol retails for about $40 for 4 litres.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, the motors are the same.... ie: all the injection gear will bolt up to the carby motor, make sure you use the correct inlet manifold gasket for the injection manifold....that's all!!! p.s. the auto level must be checked with the engine idling in NEUTRAL, not park like most other autos.
