A while ago Mitsubishi sent out a call back for certain TJs, something to do with corrosion on the fuel line and I just remembered I had a booking late January that I forgot about so I will have 2 ring up and re book it.

I was just wondering what the results where like, did anyone have a faulty part that needed fixing/replacing?

And also... is it still valid to take it in for the recall? What costs are involved?

My TJ got recalled - faulty fuel line of some sort. Mine had to be replaced, the fuel line was damaged or some such thing. They inspected it, then about 3 weeks later the replacement part came in and then I took it in again and they put it in.

Cost? NOTHING cause it's their own fault...

But yeah, you might wanna get it checked out.

It seems its not just TJ but some TL's or Kl's as I just got a letter saying the same thing. Will have it checked soon. If anyone is in doubt I would ask a dealer.

Just ring the dealer book it in cost nothing. They just cut a bit of the noise deading above the fuel line, it can hold water which drips onto your fuel line which can rust out if left alone.Mine was ok TJ.

Dropped off my ride yesterday and was going to pick it up this morning, the fuel line is fine :D

I'm not picking my car up til tomorrow unfortuneatly, I'm getting the newly revised softer hand brake to get rid of that lovely swooshing a few of us have and also had some issues with the CVs so they are getting parts in for them this arvo and I'm not paying a cent. I was worried they would blame the lowering...

Anyways, latta guys

I just took my car in to get the aircon compressor replaced (again ) and they automatically put the recall related fix on the job sheet without me having to say anything.

In fact, they didn't even tell me about it when I dropped the car off :doubt: but since I knew what it was anyway I'm not bothered.

This is what the letter said to clear things up.

Recalling TH/TJ Magna Sedan and Wagon vehicles and KH/KJ Verada sedan and wagon manufactured between 3rd November 1999 and 21st August 2002

Possible problem with the engine bay firewall silencer pad may retain moisture and if the pad is in contact with the under bonnet fuel pipe, this may result in corrosion and eventual perforation of the fuel pipe, causing a fuel leak.

There should be no cost involved, as it is a manufacturing problem. I haven't checked mine yet, but will do it soon.

Little white paper sticker about 2" square around the hinge of driver's door.

The dickheads at the dealer made a mistake it wasnt a recall for the fuel line but a fix for the electric drivers seat mounts.

It's funny how when they had this recall, the papers made a big deal about it because it was around the same time mitsubishi australia were having some problems and were gonna shut down. But im sure holden and ford hav had more recall's over the yrs

1. My VT got recalled for a Fuel pump Relay fault,
2. VR/VS Commo's getting recalled for a Corroded auto trans oil line problem.
3. In 2003 Monaros got recalled for the front seat adjusting itself whilst driving.
4. 2001 certain Holden genuine towbars were recalled due to welds cracking
5. 2004 faulty power steering cooler hose on Holden utes could rupture.

This is five examples amongst many from them.

I got a recall letter today for my TH - I thought I was in the clear as the original build dates they said didn't include mine. I guess there were more affected than they though.
